I don't know if anyone can help with this, but I thought you were as good a bunch to try as any:goodvibes My little tiny baby DS(17) has started looking at Universities ready to get his applications in later this year for 2012 admission, and one of the courses he fanicies is American Theatre Studies at an exceelent (and local!!) drama school. This course involves a year at the Stephen F Austin Texas State University in Texas (I may have the name a bit confised but I think that's more or less it:rolleyes1)

has anyone been there/know anyone who went or is going there? What is the area like, are living costs high etc etc. Its a cooperative arrangement so the 2nd year American students spend their year in England while the British kids are in Texas. hey, if anyone has a kid doing the same course at the same time we could just swap kids and save some money:rotfl:

He was at an exhibition yesterday with loads of Universities touting for business, and its really focussed him on "what next"?

TIA!

I don't know anything about that school, but I wanted to wish your DS luck in looking at colleges. My DS starts college this fall and we've spent the last year or so looking at schools. He's going to be majoring in theatre also.

You might PM ARoyer, who use to be on the boards more with us... or I can touch base with her for you.. she is in TX and may have some good insight or be able to point you in the right direction... :)

Good luck~~~ WE start applying for colleges in July/Aug/Sept this year...PJ will be going off to college the fall of 2012... :faint: We have been on 3 campus visits and she already knows where she wants to go.... here is hoping they want her just as bad!

We've not been to any campus visits yet, but we need to start (and fit in revision for THIS years exams that have to pass before NEXT year's to get into uni!) He picked up some prospectuses but of course the ones with the best courses want the higest marks:eek: At least we have the internet - when I was at school it was a case of picking up an old prospectus from the notice board and ringing up (no e-mail!) to get the new version. This way is much easier;)

Mazda,
I will ask my kids today about Stephen F Austin. I believe they have some friends attending there. It is about 3 1/2 hours from us. I have only heard good things about it.
Vicki

Thanks Vicki:goodvibes Its a looooong way to send him all alone;) (But maybe he'll let me visit:rolleyes1:rotfl2:)
PN96 - good idea about ARoyer, I'll PM her

Did your kids have anything interesting to say?
