Hello everyone! I hope its okay to post this question here. You all have such great ideas and I am at my wits end here! My DD7 wears headbands everyday! She has a zillion of them!! Does anyone have an idea of how to store these? Right now they are just scattered all over her bathroom (and mine!). Thanks!

princess:princess:

We have a storage deal (not really sure how to explain it) my grandma made it when DD was born and I put it next to her changing table for lotions, and all the things babies need...as she got older I started using it for her hair stuff. Now I put one end of her headbands on the edge and they stay in there great, I also hang her hair bows on it as well....I would post a picture if I could!! The best comparison I can think of is it is similar to one of the over the door shoe storage bags just with smaller compartments.

I have a friend who used a wrapping paper roll and hung them over it, she loves it.

If you want something that stands, you should look for a round tube and put it on your counter with them on it. Like what you see in the stores.

I really wish I could show pictures!!! LOL!!

My SIL uses the towel bar in her DD's bathroom. Works SOOOO great!!

We took a big canister- I think it was from hot chocolate or coffee- and decorated the outside. Then the headbands all get placed with one side in & one out, and they fan out in the circle. It looks neat, and keeps them all together.

I didn't get much sleep last night and it's showing.

I saw the thread and thought it said STORAGE FOR HUSBANDS. :rotfl2: I was interested to find out why you'd want to store your husband, and what in the world the suggestions were (not that I want to store mine, but I was thinking it would be a funny thread.) Headbands make a lot more sense. :lmao:
Wish me luck at work today... I need a nap!

Oh, for headbands. We just have baskets for the different kinds of hair things. I'd like to say they always make their way back, but they don't, but they often do. Good Luck!

I guess it depends on whether you are talking about stiff headbands or the stretchy kind.

The stiff ones seems to work best hanging over a bar, while the stretchy ones are good on hooks.

I could see doing a little home project to tackle this; your DD is old enough to help build it, and it's always great to get a girl going on minor carpentry.

Get a nice smooth piece of wood about 1/2 thick that will fit on an open spot of wall in the bathroom; birch plywood is good, or a solid pine panel if you can find one. Frame it with moulding if you like, so it will look nice and have smooth edges, and paint it to match the decor.

Get several double coat hooks from a hardware store and screw them into position on the board, covering the area from the top to a bit below the middle, and spaced out by about 9" or so. These are for your soft headbands.

Also get a decorative towel bar that matches the hook hardware and fits across the width of the board (you can usually cut the bar itself to make it the right length; if it is metal you'll need a hacksaw), and mount that about 7" from the bottom of the board. That will hold the stiff bands.

Hang it at a height that is reachable, but where it won't get bumped into all the time, because the bar and hooks will project out a bit from the wall.

You could do this for about $15 if you go budget on the hardware, or you could go really pricey on it -- that's all up to you and your taste.

(If she uses ponytail holders you could also add some cabinet knobs to hold those.)

I have taken a simple cardboard container left over from oatmeal. Cover it with spray adhesive and apply a pretty fabric. The headbands sit on it without stretching. It's a nice simple project for any age.

My DD also wears them every day and we have a million of them! Right now I have a basket on the bathroom counter with a divider section in it (Longaberger). I hang the headbands with one side in the basket, one side out, all around the basket. But the headbands always seem to overtake the sections that are supposed to be for lotion, brushes, etc. I like the decorating the coffee can idea!

Thank you for all your ideas! I like the idea of a round cardboard thing, like an oatmeal container. The only problem is I have absolutely no counter space in her bathroom! Hanging them on the towel bar is neat too! My cat would just love that!!

You could buy one of those behind the door hanger/organizers maybe? I know they make them with bigger pockets because we have one that my dds put their barbies and stuff in.

Or maybe just buying some ribbon and making some button holes to slide the headbands in and hanging the ribbon from a pretty piece of wood that has her name on it?

My dds wear hairbows.....so we just clip them on ribbon or put them in a basket. Hope you find a way to organize them :)

Those accordian things with the pegs on them would work for stiffs an elastic usually come in wood an can be painted to match room hang it on wall. When DD out grows headbands can be used to hang necklaces on some uses them of hats, coffee mugs, coats they have many uses.

I have 1 in my basement that holds things I need but not to often that was always getting lost.

Wow. You all are pretty creative about your headband storage..:rolleyes1

My DD is headband-crazed and she keeps 'em in a cardboard box :rotfl:

It's not decorated or anything! It's on the bottom shelf of our hall closet outside the bathroom and she helps herself to them and puts 'em back when she's done. Easy, functional and out of the way...although she would probably have fun making a project out of a some type of specialized headband storage!

I found a neck roll type pillow - but it is a little longer and more square. I just pop them over the pillow and we leave it sitting on her dresser. I found the pillow at a discount store, so it was a fairly inexpensive solution!
