I would respond but this falls too close to religion and politics for me to feel comfortable discussing it on the DIS. My response would necessarily have to go into both subjects.

Give me refillable mugs, Segways and pool hopping any day.

This is ridiculous. What next? Instead of Christmas Day we can call it "the day that the obese guy comes down the chimney".

Also, egg-shaped solids are not spheres, they're ellipsoids.

Why couldn't they just call it an egg hunt? I can sort of understand removing the word Easter, but an egg is egg people.

My first reaction to this, when I saw it, was to yell at the top of my lungs, "THEY ARE NOT SPHERES!"

This might be why we are having trouble turning out engineers and scientists.
