This is completely off topic and probably pretty trivial. We have two kids, one is six and one is One. We managed to snag some olympic tickets for next year and our oldest will be coming with us to a hockey game and award ceremony. For a souvenir we are getting pins for us and some for the oldest for sure.

The debate I'm having is whether to get any for our second child. He won't be coming to the games because he's just too young but this is the only time the olympics will be coming here. I did get him the pin that came with our tickets but I was planning on getting our oldest the holiday pins they have coming out this year and I'm not sure if I should get it for our youngest as well. Would he apreciate it later...feel left out later? I'm an only child so I have no clue haha.

With kids that close in age it is usually easier and safer to give both kids the same things.

Really a year apart and your questioning it?

Theres no way with only a year apart Id take one and not the other unless one loved hockey and the other couldnt care less. I have a DS6 and DD almost 3 and I wouldnt leave her out of it. Shes been to the Stanley Cup Finals, (go ducks)Semis last year (go Pens) etc she goes everywhere I dont exclude her shes one of us...lol

The Olympics are pretty major. Its what memories are made out of..IMO If you couldnt snag an extra tix I would stay home and let DH take them or something. Pins in this household wouldnt be an issue..lol If i took one and not the other really its the olympics its an experience..

Personally I think your setting the kids up for rivalry and jealousy. I was an only child too and take extra caution to treat them equally. Just my opinion hopefully i didnt dont offend..:)

I have to agree with this statement.

There would be serious mutiny in our house if one child got to go to the Olympics or (anywhere else for that matter) and the younger one was told they were "too young". The age difference of one year in this case seems insignificant to warrant the charge.

Wow sorry BIG typo there...One is one now and one will be seven at the games sorry (six now). I just gave you the age on my eldest now and when he'll be going. Really gotta re-read my posts before I post...sometimes I type too fast for my own good.

Anyways...ya I totally WOULD be asking for trouble if they were that close haha. I did end up getting the little one pins anyways...he's getting slightly different ones than his brother but he is getting some. He might enjoy them when he's older :)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: don't worry about the little one. He/she won't know anything about it. At the age of 2 all they care about is food and toys.

The 2 year old will care less. I wouldn't worry at all about it.

PS When I first read your post I actually went back to see if you had written 6 month old. Makes perfect sense now.

Furthermore, lucky you guys!

Myself with such an important event I would make sure that both kids got pins. It will make a keepsake for the little one later. Some other things may not make any difference but this is a big deal. I tend to try and keep things so that all feel included.
