DS(10) has two days of selection tests next week - if he gets a high enough mark he can go to the local selective schools (which only take the top children), otherwise he goes to the non-selective schools. We're lucky in that we have good schools of both sorts fairly near, but he's naturally a little nervous. Particularly as he really wants to go the the same selective school as my neice and youngest nephew:rolleyes:

I'm trying to encourage as well as manage his expectations, but its so stressful (for me as much as him!) I don't know how some parents put their kids in for the tests in other boroughs as well!:scared1: Its bad enough doing the one you have to do! I just want him to feel calm on the day and do his best - I can live with what he gets if I think its right for him.

Tell him that his future mother in law and wife are sending him tons of positive energy and thoughts his way. Everything will work out. Go Christian!!!

Good luck and calming thoughts for test day. Well keep our fingers crossed

As long as he gives it his best, that is all we can ask. I know he can do it!!

I wish him success on his testing. Doing his best, as Lisa said, is all you can ask of any child. Students can get stressed out before a test, so having him relax might help too. AS with all of us, the anticipation is often worse that the actual. The best of luck to him.!!:thumbsup2l

All he needs is a little faith, trust and pixie dust because he's already got the smarts! Thoughts and wishes are with him from AZ!

Thank you all! He did a final practice paper (maths) on Saturday am and got 84% - his highest yet for maths, and only 2% short of his highest verbal reasoning. :goodvibes So he seems to be peaking about right, but who can tell what will happen on the day. And who can tell what everyone else will get - if loads of people get 96% then that will be the pass mark:headache:

At least we've got good schools in this area, including one he really likes which is non-selective (but a bus ride rather than walking distance), so he's fairly cool with whatever result. Its' me who's the nervous wreck:rolleyes:
