I am looking to get dh a SR system for Christmas. I do not know anything about it except that I want the thing to come with the kit that plugs into your home stereo as well as in the car and also a headset. I also haven't decided between XM or Sirrius. I am leaning towards Sirrius. DH DOES NOT like sports (Lucky ME!!! ) so that is not even a consideration for my decision. Anyway- I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about it and maybe give me some opinions and suggestions. Thanks!!! princess:

Me and my dh both have the car XM's and LOVE them. We just bought our 17 yr old ds the portable XM and it is soo nice, I want one now :teeth: My son knows more about them and prefers XM way over sirus :confused3
I just know that we do like our XMs, couldn't gp without them now!

We have XMs in the cars and an XM boom box at home. We don't have a stereo system, so no advice there. All I can say is we all LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! We can always find something good to listen to. The one in the car comes in especially handy for long trips where we'd lose our local stations and try to find another Radio Disney, COuntry or whatever. I don't know much about the difference between XM and Sirius other than XM carries all the baseball and college football and Sirius has the NFL. Otherwise I think the programming is pretty similar.

Sirius=Howard Stern Show=easy choice for me. I've been listening for over 22 years, so for me XM isn't even a consideration.

I agree, easy choice... I would not even consider Sirius. If they have Howard, I want XM.

We just bought a XM Roadie 2 for a gift and it was 29.00 at Circuit City. Pretty good price for what was 129.00 last year. Got it online.

There have been a couple of threads about this very recently - you might search for "sirius" and "xm" and see what you find.

We love our XM - I can't imagine how we got along before we had it.

We got the Roady 2 for Christmas last year and I picked up one for $29 at Target about a month ago. Unfortunately, my car unit was stolen about 2 weeks ago - DH left the car unlocked overnight :confused3
so I have to replace mine. We have the home kit, as well.
If you have aol, they now have XM radio on the aol radio. Also, if you have Direct TV they also have it through the tv. DD listens to Radio Disney alot. We mostly listen to Watercolors, which is a comtemporary or smooth jazz station. Love it!! The local radio stations here are awful and DH has a 45 minute commute each way, so it is great for him.

I've had Sirius for two years and love it!! Couldn't do without it--have the holiday station on as we speak. Christmas songs 24/7! We get XM through directTV and it seems fine too--I just can't decipher the names into the type of music! I should go find myself a guide. I bet you'll love satellite radio!!

They were running a special that was $500 for LIFE of the radio!! I got the reciever at target, it was $109 and came with the FM modulator so I can play it on any FM radio, dont need the boom box, or the car adaptor or anything.

We LOVE it.

Use it all the time, in the house, in the car, he even takes it on job sites (he's a carpenter) and someone always has a boombox (any kind) just tune the radio to an unused frequency and you are all set.

PM with?? if you like.

XM all the way... My DH works for Delphi so we got one of the first ones... We love the oldies. The Holly station (all Christmas) Radio Disney.. GO to the XM website and see what suits you.. We love country and they have highway 16 that is all the polular songs with interviews.

We take ours every were. Go on vacation to my parents and take it. So we have one in the house and one in the car.. Works any where in North America. Take it to Canada all the time...

Best investment we ever made...

Sirius ROCKS! I'll never listen to free radio again. If you like music, they've got everything. It was the best gift DH ever gave me, except for the kids, of course!
