Wondering if anyone lives in the boonies and what you use for internet? We are likely going with LOOK communications and we live in the very south east corner of Uxbridge Twnshp (just moved from Scarborough). If anyone has any suggestions, good or bad experiences I would love to hear them!

I use my cable service provider and it is 7mb per second which is fairly fast.

Sorry - should have clarified - neither Rogers nor Bell service my area - via 'land lines' or WiFi. So, I am looking for a 'non-standard' provider. Sorry for the confusion!

Hi, we're also waaaayyyyy off the beaten path. For the last few years we've had satellite internet through Xplornet.com. At first we managed with the base package but my wife and I need decent speed for working from home on occasion. We now have the 2nd fastest option they offer and find it quite workable. It will never be as fast as a landline, there is the delay (latency) issue at times and it's pretty expensive compared to what urban folks pay but it's light years ahead of dialup. I guess it depends on what it's worth to you. Definitely try before you buy.

We use Xplornet too and don't have many problems. Although with the satelite, sometimes weather is an issue. But all in all, anything beats dealing with Bell. I can't stand dealing with Bell for anything! Plus we don't have cable lines out our way either.

Totally agree about Bell - every time I try and deal with them (Dad is retired employee so have tried to give them benefit of the doubt a few times) it has just been one problem after another and I can NEVER get through to anyone who has any clue what I am talking about. Very frustrating!

Well - I am a bit concerned about the Look review and will check out the other options but may still give it a shot. The woman I spoke to was very good and efficient. My main concern is the speed. I can't seem to get anything about 3 Mps download. We were used to 7.0 from Rogers so it is going to seem pretty slow to us. Oh well, will keep googling.....
