Hi! :teeth:

I've been drinking a lot, I mean a LOT, of water lately, and frankly, I'm pretty sick of it ;) I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I'm compromising anything by adding a Crystal Lite packet to it? Can I still consider it drinking a bottle of water, or am I adding terrible things to it that aren't good for my body? I've always been a big fan of Iced Tea, and I think if I added some Crystal Lite to my water I would drink even more. Trying to stay away from soda, at doctor's orders, but is Crystal Lite an okay alternative to water? :confused3

I would ask my doctor, but she's in Hawaii for a month's vacation

I use those little packets all the time! :teeth: It's either CL or I also use 4C packets of ice tea. I hate drinking plain water and this is the only way I can get it down. The CL is only 5 calories and the 4C is 0, so I don't think it'll do much harm.

Lucky Doctor!

About the only thing even half-way bad in Crystal Light is aspartame (Nutrasweet), which has been shown to cause cancer in lab rats when they were given high doses. However, pretty much anything in high doses will probably cause cancer over time, so one or two Crystal Lights a day to break up the monotony of drinking water should be okay.

Here's a link to the nutritional information: http://www.kraftfoods.com/CRYSTALLI...uctInformationPanel&Site=1&Product=4300094520. There's only 5 calories per serving in the On-The-Go packets, so if you got the On-The-Go packets and drank two per day, you'd only be adding 10 calories to your daily intake.

Also, can you drink tea? I drink one to two large mugs of tea per day (caffienated in the morning and then Sleepytime or Decaf in the afternoon/evening).

Good Luck!

Good for you getting your water in! :thumbsup2 I hate water, but I really need to start drinking it too. Is there any flavors of CL that you prefer?

Personally, I don't trust artificial sweeteners so I don't use them. We were all told for years that saccharin was safe, then they decided it wasn't and switched to other forms of artificial sweeteners. I'm sure at some point they will decide nutrasweet is no good for us too.

Besides that, artificial sweeteners make me HORRIBLY thirsty! I mean, a non-quenching kind of thirst that I can't get rid of no matter how much more water I drink.

You said that you like iced tea. Why not just make some iced tea from tea bags and add a little lemon? You could even add a tiny bit of real sugar to sweeten it up a little if you need it without adding too many calories, but I love it plain. If you are trying to lower caffeine you can use decaf tea bags.

Also, I love to make spritzers out of seltzer water and a splash of fruit juice. You don't need much juice to make it taste decent.

I drink a lot of Crystal Light too. Raspberry Lemonade and Peach Tea are my favorites, Target brand makes it and it costs a lot less and tastes the same. We also like Fruit 2o water too. Just adding a lemon, lime or orange slice helps me get it down. I have given up on keeping track of everything that causes cancer. I never used Sweet N Low and then they find out it was okay after all.

I love CL!! I like the orange the best. It really covers the water. That sounds terrible but I hate it when you add something and it just tastes watered down.

I used CL and On the Go packets all the time now. I found them at target too for less. Target has their own version that is pretty tastey.

Since finding them I have cut down a lot on soda so I'm feeling pretty good about it.

I can also pack them in DDs lunch with a bottle of water and she loves them.

I wish we had a Target up here; closest one is over an hour away, dangit! Tried the Wal-Mart brand, ewwww...

We usually have a pitcher of the Raspberry Ice flavor at home, since my husband LOVES that one; I think I will try the packets and keep them in my desk drawer at work. I love tea, and usually have a cup in the morning before I sit down at my desk, but it takes time to put it together and I just don't have any extra during my work hours! ;) Dumping a little packet into my water bottle is much easier for me when I'm in the middle of something at work. :teeth:

I use a product called True Lemon and True Lime - comes in little packets or powder - crystallized and no artificial sweeteners. If you go to www.truelemon.com I think you can get a free sample to try. You can buy online or at grocery stores - my Acme has it.

I loved crystal light but one day I got this horrible rash that wouldnt go away.. after about a week of having this rash they decided it was because if the crystal light and a day after I stopped the rash went away... ( hubby and I were drinking a ton through)

Sometimes people's systems have problems with too much artificial sweetner.

My favorite is Strawberry banana that you can get at Walmart, it is a Walmart brand but still same concept. I also like the madarin orange green tea to-go packets that Lipton makes.

I use a Wal-mart brand called Fulfill. I really like the lemon and the cherry.

Thanks for the link. I signed up for some. It sounds like a great product. I love limon water :goodvibes .

I drink 12-14 glasses of water a day. I always add crystal light or walmart brand of drink crystals. It's the only way that i can manage to get my water in.

I love the Crystal Light and the Target brand but I find it too sweet to drink. But I hate the taste of water.
So I put one of the packets into a 32 oz glass of water and it is just fine for me. I am able to drink 2 32 oz glasses per day along with my tea in the morning and evening and I am finally getting enough water in my system.
I use one of those big cups that you get at 7-11. Peggie

I was told by a nutritionist that crystal light counts toward your water intake since its sugar free. However, she said if it is ice tea and has caffeine it wont count toward your water intake. I drink the lemonade so it works out great.
