DW (parrotheadlois) and I were listening to last week's podcast while making our usual 60 mile drive home from work (I-80 in NJ, feel our pain). When the crew got to opening the gift of music, I thought it was nice that someone sent a CD by her husband. We started talking and then heard the name-Radney Foster. We backed up the podcast a bit and realized that the husband was, indeed, Radney Foster, one of the best song-writers around. We have been fans for a while and the connection to the Dis had us absolutely floored.

For those who might be interested, do not be thrown by the "country" label. He writes songs that would work in almost any adult-oriented genre. Given the youthful, pop oriented focus of current country music, his songs are written by an adult for adults. Give a listen to "Nobody Wins", "Half of My Mistakes" or "The Kindness of Strangers" and you'll know what I mean. In addition, having heard that he has a new CD out, I went online and watched the video for his new song "Angel Flight". Now that the tears have stopped, I think everyone should check it out. If I knew how to add a link, I would. It's that good and that moving.

His new CD is listed at #21 on this weeks Americana Playlist Chart.

I seem to remember a tune called "Just Call Me Lonesome" released by Radney after Foster & Lloyd disbanded. Good stuff. :)

A few years ago we went on vacation to Nashville and got tickets for the Grand Ole Opry. Radney Foster was on the bill along with a number of other well known singers including Charlie Pride and Carry Underwood. We're not country music enthusiasts but we were pleasantly surprised at the variety of music the people played that evening. We really enjoyed it and felt that Radney Foster's music was quite diverse. We thought he was terrific. Here is a photo I took of Radney at the show (they let you take all of the photos you want). We also got some great pics of Carry Underwood.

I am a country music fan. I think it's kind of funny, becuase if you are not, it would be easy to not know somebody. So, to get a CD from a fan it would be easy to think it's no big deal. I think it's pretty cool that his wife is a fan of the podcast. "Nobody Wins" is an awesome song.

I wondered about that when I heard that on the podcast. Could it be the Radney Foster I thought it was. He has a great voice and is a wonderful songwriter.:thumbsup2

And it is.:cool1:

Another great song Nicole. I'm not a devote country music fan in any way. I'm more of a "catchy tune" / "nice melody" music fan. And there is a lot of country that falls into that especially the cross over acts.

One band/artist which I consider a real personal fav is the Mavericks/Raul Malo. They dip into country but I would not consider them country. Now it's just Raul alone. And ladies, Raul's voice will make you cry, give you duck bumps, or both. :)

Oh Raul -be still my heart.....what a voice.

Knowing that Mrs. Radney Foster is a Disser like we are - I'm now on a mission.
The video for Radney's song, Angel Flight, is on the ballot to be included in GAC's Top 20 Countdown. We Dissers have been known to support each other, let's see if we can make a difference for Radney!

Vote for "Angel Flight" for GAC's Top 20
Radney's new video, "Angel Flight," tells the story of the aircrew that fly fallen soldiers home to their final resting place. The video is currently airing on GAC (Great American Country), and fans can now vote to have the video included in the network's Top Twenty Countdown.

Please watch the video on Radney's home page and vote at http://www.gactv.com/vote

Proceeds from sale of “Angel Flight” benefit Texas National Guard Family Support Foundation, so let's spread the word!

I've had to witness DW swooning over Raul's voice when we've gone to his concerts. What are 'duck bumps' and are they contagious? (In our neck of the woods, we refer to a different form of poultry-the goose.):confused3
