OT: Question for classroom mothers

I am going to be one of the classroom mothers for my son's 3rd grade class this year. Does anyone have any catalogs they can recommend for holiday crafts? If you could provide links, that would be great!!!

A lot of people use Oriental Trading.

I'm a 1st grade teacher & I can't stand most of their products.
The pieces are too small & tend to get lost, & it seems all their projects ever involve is gluing craft foam, wood, or pom poms.

I would rather my class work on more "real" type crafts, like the ones found in Pack-O-Fun magazine. Those involve more than just gluing some foam & pom poms together.

You can get lots of different crafts from Oriental Trading...but I agree that the peices are small and difficult for younger kids. I was the class mom in my DS's kindergarden class last year and most of the crafts from OT I had to preassemble at home because there was so much glueing to do that they would never had dried in time! I had much better luck at Michaels. They have foam craft kits that usually contain 30 pieces for around $7-$8. You can even get them on sale at times for $5. They have new ones for every season and they do not need glue!! They have tabs to remove like stickers...much easier!!!!

I like Or Trading for the price but I find that many times the crafts are missing pieces so you need to have extra packets on hand. I also found lots of thier crafts hard to thread thru the holes provided.

DS (10) grades - preK, 1-4th

Now....I agree that a lot of Oriental Trading's items can be small....you can find stuff for the little kids.... and the best thing I have ever found..?????


GLUE DOTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No waiting for anything to dry...it's absolutely wonderful! Oriental Trading's glue dots are much better than Michael's Crafts or AC Moore Crafts.

I've used http://familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts/ many times for my DS's class crafts. They always have different crafts for the holidays and offer paper puzzles (crosswords/word search/etc.) that you can print out as well.
