I have been using this a lot at work. Is there any way to have it run in the background so it doesn't shut off the music anytime I use the phone for something else?
I wondered the same thing and it doesn't work with pandora, but it does work with my downloads like the podcasts. I can listen to those while running another app.
Is there a single other music playing app that will multitask, outside of the IPOD app? If not, I would chock it up to Apple exercising that control, and not poor programming, afterall, a jailbroken iphone will multitask.
I believe it is centered around Itunes and forcing people into paying for music (which is a good thing, in my mind, as these artists really deserve to make a decent living).
It could also have to do with battery life, and security issues, etc. There are rumours that the new Operating System may lift this multitasking blackout. We shall see, but considering the spotlight on the launch of the Ipad and it's reported limited multitasking ability, it wouldn't shock me to see it happen.

This is EXACTLY the reason. Jobs doesn't want anything to compete with anything Apple, so no multitasking for anything but Apple installed software. This isn't bad programming, it's total control by Apple. They may claim security, battery life issues, but in reality it's just Apple being greedy. They want you to pay 99 cents a song rather than stream for free.
