So My DD6 has been slightly wiggling one of her bottom teeth for the past three weeks (and I mean slightly) today I look at her mouth and there is a tooth growing in right behind it! Two rows of teeth :scared1: I called her dentist and they set up an appointment for Monday and mentioned they will probably pull several of her front teeth. Poor Baby. This is not how I wanted her to lose her first tooth.

Has anyone ever been through this? Our insurance does not cover braces but should I still start to look into that? Oh no Oh no Oh NO!

Don't worry yet, both DD's front bottom teeth came in before the perm ones fell out. I think the top also. I called the dentist and took her in but they said it was fine and to let them fall out on their own.

She refused to wiggle them because she did not want to see any blood!

We've had our share of dentist visits from the age of 1 (he's only almost 4), but I don't even think I would have called a dentist; I personally wouldn't have seen it as a problem (and if DS inherits all of DH's teeth issues, he could end up with THREE rows of teeth). I personally would just figure that it would resolve itself, and wait for the dentist until it was a real problem with pain involved.

DS lost his first tooth at 6 months when he slammed into a table face-first during his first highchair experience. Second two were pulled b/c they grew in yellow, turned brown, started disintegrating, and just before we found a GOOD dentist they started to hurt him (whew! at the timing). So I know all about baaaaad ways to lose first teeth!!! :scared:

This happened to both my kids. Dentist said not a big deal; if the baby tooth is not out in a month or so we'll take a look and make a decision then. I'm glad we didn't have them pulled- the baby teeth came out on their own and all is well! Sure did look stange though :teeth:

I surprised they said they would pull it with out even seeing her. Our dentist won't pull a baby tooth on a child that young. I asked to her pull one on by dd7 and she said it will fall out when ready 2 months later we lost it at disney. She had the new tooth coming in behind and the dentist told us that happens. It happened to my dd5 on one of her bottom teeth. If they pull check to see what they are going to charge and see if your insurance covers it. Extractions can be expensive. Good luck.

I was in high school when I lost my last tooth. I did eventually have the dentist pull the baby tooth because it wouldn't let go of the gums, but the permanent tooth was fully grown in, and I was too scared to try to pull it myself. It was kind of funny having two teeth in the same spot, just one sideways and barely hanging on.

It's supposed to happen that way, because the baby tooth directs the perm tooth to the right spot. And never get over eggar to get rid of all the baby teeth. Sometimes a perm tooth will never grow in, I still have one.

We went through this with dd6 last year, with the same problem. She thought it was really fun, no worries, and was happy that she got to eat ice cream for dinner! I'm pretty sure that it won't make her have braces because of that. So, dont stress about the insurance issue just yet.

Hi,
I am a dental hygienist! I wouldn't worry about it. We see that problem all the time. It is the number one phone call we get from parents! Most times the teeth will fall out on their own. Your daughters tongue will force the new tooth to move forward where it is supposed to. Where I work we don't usually pull baby teeth unless we are sure they are not going to come out on their own, so I wouldn't rush into pulling them. Good luck!!~~~Jenn

We have also had our share of not so pleasant visits to the dentist. The last appointment, the Dentist noticed the adult tooth coming in and said that we had to start wiggling the baby or else when the adult came in, she would have to pull the baby.

I did not want to subject DD to that and so we made a concerted effort to start wiggling those babies (as both bottom adults were coming in behind the babies!). We were able to loosen one of the baby teeth quite easily and we were able to pull it out eventually. The baby moved into place quite nicely. However, the lower right side WOULD NOT budge. The adult was coming in quick, and the baby would not loosen. Finally I just grabbed it, and thankfully DD let me (the thought of going to the Dentist to pull it was scary enough that she would rather I do it forcefully, instead of the Dentist!), and I wiggled the tooth like crazy. Thankfully it finally loosened up enough that DD was able to pull it out herself one night. The adult tooth is still slowly moving into place, but is a little crooked. I have already resolved myself to knowing she will need braces later in life. Her mouth is small, and the baby teeth are completely tight in there, there is no room for all those adults coming in. I personally had to have 4 adult teeth removed when I got my braces!

So far this has happened with four of my son's bottom teeth. I freaked out at first and thought the dentist would pull his loose one, but the hygenist said it is very common. Eventually it fell out and his new tooth moved up.

Same thing happened to my DD- no worries!

As others have said, the dentist wasn't even remotely concerned. She happened to have her regular cleaning when it was super loose. I was hoping the hygenist might, ah, help it out during the cleaning. (DD was hysterically worried about it falling out...) Nope, she said it was fine as it was.

It did fall out on its own not long later... this was about 2 weeks ago and the adult one has already moved forward into place.

The same thing happened to my ds6. We called him shark boy. I took him into the dentist and they said no worries. 5 mths later it was still super loose and he was drooling nonstop and it was just icky so I asked again if this was normal and they "helped" it out. They sort of pulled and cut it. He didn't even notice it was done- he was "bracing" himself for it. AS for braces- hopefully we won't.

with my 7yo. Took him to the dentist for a check up and they said the tooth in the back was a baby tooth and we better start wiggeling it to get it out. They said in 6 months if it wasn't out they would pull it. Well, I was mad because it didn't fall out until the adult tooth broke thru the front of the gum nowhere near under the gum like it should have. It had no other place to come in at because the baby tooth was still in the road. If they would have pulled it, he would not have this stupid looking tooth that everyone is probably going to make fun of. I don't see it resolving itself. I am pretty sure he will need braces. But anyway, when they said they would pull it in 6 months, they just said they would put numbing spray on it and yank it. Not like a novicaine shot or anything bad. One morning I went in to wake him for school and his mouth was just full of bright red blood and it was all over his pillow and he was pale as a ghost. I called the dentist and she said no big deal but decided she would pull it sooner. The day before he was due to have it pulled, I put baby oragel on it and he let me yank it out. I will do that from now on. baby Oragel!

My now DD16 had the same problem. All of her bottom front adult teeth were comming in behind her baby teeth. We watched them for a while. The adult teeth kept growing and the baby teeth would not loosen, the Dentist ended up pulling her baby teeth to make room for the others to move where they belonged. The whole thing was not that big of a deal. Baby teeth come out fairly easy. No numbing or anything. It was such not a big deal she did not complain to go back and have the others done. She was about 6 when this all happened. Of course for us that was not all. Years of spacers and braces later she has beautful teeth....now if I could just get her to wear her retainer.
