I am in charge of getting a gift for the leaders of our Webelos II group. We will be presenting it at our Blue and Gold banquet when we have the ceremony for the boys to get their Arrow of Light and cross over to Boy Scouts. It's a very special occasion for them and I want to find something nice. It only needs to be one gift because they are a married couple. I did find a nice wooden photo box with a place for engraving on top, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas. I only have until the end of the month to have it in hand to present on Feb. 1st.
:confused3 :confused3
Thank you for your help!!!!

I have been in Scouting my whole life. The things leaders seem to really like are things from the Scouts. Could you have each boy write a note, and take a pic, maybe make alittle scrapbook? Or I know when my mom was a leader she appreciated a gift card to the Scout store. She always bought stuff out of her pocket for our troop. Just a few ideas. I'm sure anything will be appreciated.

I'm a Webelos 1 leader and what I woudl love is some sort of scrapbook - showing the boys when they started scouting with me, and and when they finished. Each boy could have a page. I think that would be great.

I definately think the sentimental road is appreciated more than a "gift"...
My son crossed over last year and we did a scrapbook with pictures of each of the boys plus a letter like someone else mentioned. The letters were really touching (coming from boys that age especially!). We also got a framed picture from a Christian bookstore (it wasn't religious, but "spiritual" )...I can't remember what it said, but it was a black and white photo and said something about a leader and the impact they had on others...We took the glass off and the boys neatly signed their names around it and then we put it back together. It was really nice and it brought tears to the leaders' eyes when they opened it.
They also gave the Packmaster a really nice walking stick with a little engraved oval attached to it (don't remember what it said) with a card saying something to the effect of "Thank you for walking along the journey with ....."
Sorry I can't remember the specifics, but you get the idea. There are so many great ideas out there, I'm sure they will appreciate whatever you decide when it is from the heart! Good Luck and congratulations to the Webelos! :)

My son is getting ready to cross over in February as well. Since our troop is based at our Catholic church & school, and we only have 5 boys in our den, we are presenting our leader with a personalized rosary. (Each boy's name will be spelled out.)

Do you have a Scout Store near you? Whenever we needed gifts for leaders, we went there to find them. Blankets, jackets, gift items, etc with the BS insignia......

All of the ideas above sound great. Proud mom of a Life Scout here. Just wanted to encourage all the parents to keep their boys in scouting. It's wonderful and teaches leadership & responsibility to the boys. Good luck to all and keep on camping! ::yes::

Thank you all for the great ideas! I love the walking stick idea and am going to see what I can find, other wise I think I will stick with the photo box idea and try to find some of their dens old photos to start it out and then they can add more of their sons adventures in boy scouts. Congratulations to all of your sons crossing over to boy scouts, it's very difficult to get these young guys to stay interested and excited about something for almost five years!

All the ideas have been great. Proud mother of one Eagle and an almost Eagle (Project done report done and then the Board of Review and I have a second one.)

If you can keep them in Scouts they will learn so much

I was going to mention the one gift we got for DS's leader (forget what year) but it was just one leader and female but realized you were looking for a couple. Anyway, we got her a spa gift cert. It may have been a Christmas gift one year but we figured with all the time she spent camping and doing activities with all our boys, she needed a little time for herself.

The sentimental ideas are also great, especially if they have been their leaders for a while. I know in one pack we were in, the leaders were parents who moved up with their sons. That lead to a lot of memories by Cross-Over!

For our DS's when they crossed over, one special thing we got for the boys was a shadow box with their name engraved to display all the awards they received while in Cub Scouts. I know the catalogue the adult leaders used to get had them in for BS too but we did our own much less expensive version.

BTW, we have a 1st class (almost Star scout) and a WI who just can not wait to be a BS! Scouting is the greatest organization!!

:wave2: Hello fellow Scout parents!

Just wanted to say hi! Our son just got back from camping....yes, right in the shower! Our younger son has his Cake auction coming up this month, too.
Woo hoo! Go Scouts!
