sorry this is not 100% budget but wondering if anyone on here is planning on getting the new iphone tomrrow? Just wondering what time i may have to go to get one in the morning.

We have the "old" iphones and don't plan on getting new ones. I heard a rumor that the cost of the data plan was going to be more on the new ones. I am not sure if that is true. Either way, we love our current iphones and the new version doesn't have anything that I can't live without!:goodvibes

We didn't have any trouble getting ours last summer either. We went to the AT&T store, not the Apple store. Good luck!

I am not planning on it tbh after I saw the price plans involved I decided to stay with Sprint for 2 more years but here are some articles that might help you out. Will depend on how crazy you want to go you could go pop a tent right now lol. But I would say that apple knows the demand for this product and I think they will have sufficient demand atleast for day 1. If you have an apple store around you like the article says that is prob best bet sometime maybe around an hour and half after opening to avoid the opening rush, before 5pm ppl, and the ppl who are going on lunch break.

Thanks! since we are getting a family share plan (2 iphones and 1 reg phone)i think i need to go to an AT&T store (though i wuold prefer to go to an apple store) but i hope that my DH can get in line around 6 and then I can join him once the child goes to camp at 8:10. Keeping my fingers crossed!

You should be able to do the family plans at Apple. They will only sell one per person though, so if the second person isn't there when they get to the front of the line, only one phone is going home with them. The parent could take a kid along-any "body" counts: one iphone per person.

You can figure pricing with the web info from the ATT site. Just add $39.99 per additional iphone line (9.99 phone, $30 data) It prices out the same whether an individual plan and adding lines, or a family plan. If the family added non iphone, it would just be the 9.99 line. If you want text messaging, that is additional. $5 for 200 txt per individual line on up to $20 unlimited. For family plans the only option is $30 unlimited.

I really don't think it will be backlogged like last year. Not everyone is upgrading. Many who had to have the phone first time around will wait out their contracts.

And to the person who has the origional, itunes 7.7 is online for download now in preparation for the soon to be released iphone 2.0, which is going to be really nice. It will give the same functions to the existing users as the new 3G, minus the speed of the 3G and the gps.

Thanks Greentea. But we still need to get the 3rd line, which will be a regular phone, and i need to see what my options are before i pick the phone and then have them set up all 3 lines.

V. excited!

I was seriously considering getting the IPhone until I added up the monthly charges and decided it wasn't worth it. I've decided on an IPod Touch. I figure I can pick up Wi-Fi's just about anywhere I go these days. If soemone really needs to get hold of me they can call.

Good luck getting one tomorrow. From what I have heard they expect to have more than enough to meet the demand tomorrow!

I was told at the AT&T store that they are expecting a lot of people. ut the sales guy said they are getting A LOT of phones so no one should be turned away.

I am indeed getting one. I never had a smartphone before I got the iPhone and it's the most useful device I've ever had. I'm willing to pay more for the superior data speed and other features.

Having said that, I won't go tomorrow because I think it's going to be a nightmare. The first time around you just purchased the phone and then came home to activate it on-line. This time they're activating them in the stores.

I think that there's a big misconception on pricing. I think a lot of people are going to be upset when they find out that the 3G iPhone isn't $199 unless they are already an iPhone user or have been an AT&T customer for a certain period of time (and they're not disclosing what that actually means). That alone is going to cause problems....

Then factor in the increase in monthly fees, that's going to case more confusion and more questions.

And finally, there will be credit checks, for anyone who is a new AT&T customer.

I'll wait a week or two until they work out all of the kinks.

The $199/$299 price will be the case for those new to ATT as well. Only ones not getting that deal are those in a 2 year contract with a different ATT phone, though many are reporting their account information now says upgrade eligible.

Believe it or not, my KID decided today for certain, he isn't going to get the iphone. He has the itouch (free with the college lap top) and has decided a free phone courtesy of mom and dad is better than being partially responsible for an iphone bill.

I honestly don't know how I lived without one. As dvcgirl said, it is the most useful device I have ever had as well.

My fiancee' is dying to get one and has been following the release. He said that there are already lines in some cities. He's planning on going at 4 am tomorrow morning to line up at the ATT store. I have no idea if that'll be necessary.

I've also heard a rumor that most stores will be getting in 100 new iphones.

I'm going to wait until my cell phone contract is up to get one. It'll be cheaper for us to be on one plan instead of two.

That is actually true and false. The $199 is for new activations and qualified upgrades. For existing AT&T customers, to determine if you are eligible for the qualified upgrade go to www.att.com/iphone.

An additional charge that made me decide on the IPod Touch instead is the activation fee. New customers will have to pay $36 and qualified upgrades will have to pay a $18 upgrade fee.

Here is a pdf file that outlines all the info you need to know about AT&T and the new IPhone

I have both the iPod touch and the iPhone. With the iPhone, I did NOT have to pay an activation fee, it's "included" in the price of the phone.

That being said, I will not get the upgrade, not because of the kinks or the lines or the cost. I just got a new car Monday and it has the GPS (turn by turn) in it, so now I have a smart phone and a smart car (it emails me!?!)

There is now an activation fee for the IPhone. It is listed on the document I posted earlier.

my dh works for apple and they are starting to sell at 8AM! We unfortunately arent upgrading to the new iphone, we have the old ones we dont need the new one cause we can get the software that is on the new one via syncing the phone of course we wont have the 3g or the gps capability we just dont need it. as for the price, some people will be in shock when they go in the store to purchase one that is all i have to say, so good luck on all getting one tomorrow.

Tomorrow's launch sounds like it will be a pain, compared to the original release, anyway - credit checks, no online set-up, the different pricing for new or upgrading ATT customers.

That said, I want one! But I think I'll have to wait until :santa: brings me one!

My boys wanted the original when it came out, but they each got an ipod touch instead - it is similar to the iphone, but I think they would still rather have the phone!

what is the itouch and how much does it cost.

Looks like I will have to wait til next month to get the iphone $199.

I need to access internet on the go. music and text, not so much.

It's 2 am and we're up......my son wants one but I have to be there to sign because I am the name on the AT&T contract. Well.....let's just say there are already about 50 people in line at 1 am. I am NOT bunking out overnight for one of these. No way. We could stay up all night and not get one because they run out. Ridiculous. Back to bed for me...........

My DFi is in line for me. He got there at 5am and is 44th in line. I drove by at 1am and there were about 25 people there with their chairs and laptops, lol. I'll be meeting him in a bit so he can go to work.

DH is in line at 7am and was about 50th in line. i have to drop off DD at camp at 8 and then i will meet him at the store. AGood luck everyone! it's totally like ADR 180 day or getting concert tickets. i kind of love it!

good luck!
