OT Need some help re: Wonderland

HI,

I am taking my 6 & 8 year old children to Wonderland next Firiday. I haven't been since I was in high school. Dh went a couple of years ago but only did the roller coasters. The kids are big sponge bob fans!! Are there certain times he is available to meet.

What rides would you suggest for that age limit. They like thrill rides though Mom does not. Is there any good strategy to see the park. WE are camping near by so will have a full day. I see that there is also a water park. I hope to spend some time there in the afternoon.

Any good places to eat?

The next day I want to do some back to school shopping at the Vaughan Mills Mall. I read online that there would be a Disney Clearance store there, does anyone know if it is opened yet.

We were at Vaughn Mills last week and Disney was still closed I think it is due to open in September.
Can't tell you much about Wonderland as we are not fans of the park.

There is a whole section of the park devoted to rides for younger children. When you get to the park, pick up one of the daily schedules at the front gate and it will give you an idea of when the kids might see SpongeBob as well as what time the shows and things run.

I would recommend getting there early! Be there before the park opens ( a few minutes anyway). If you don't already have the tickets, you can get them at Blockbuster discounted. I bought 3 general admission tickets from Blockbuster and just bought the ticket at the gate for my daughter who is 5. Big mistake, next time I know to just buy the discounted ticket as well and forget the 9 dollars, this way we wouldn't have to stand in the gigantic line for tickets for a half hour! The line was all the way down to the security when we finally got our ticket, I am betting those people had around an hours wait!
Tons there for your kids, we ran out of time after just doing the 3 kids sections. We didn't even make it around the park or the water park. They had fun, next year I will get the 2 day pass instead. The Spongebob 3-D movie was lots of fun and spongebob and patrick come out about half an hour, you won't miss them!

The one ride I would head for right-a-way would be scooby's haunted mansion as the line gets long quickly! it is in Hanna Barbara Land (or what it used to be called anyways) As a previous poster told you they do have a whole section of the park dedicated to the kids and that is where Scooby's HM is anyways. We did this ride when we were there and it was backed up quite a bit. Go first thing over to the kids part of the park and do the rides there then go to the water park later as the lines start to fill up at the rides. Don't get the kids wrist bands when you first get into the park as this will hold you up and it takes along time to get them. The attendants at the rides have a bunch of them anyways and can give them to you later when you are looking to get on the normal rides. Good luck and have fun. DON'T FORGET TO INDULGE IN FUNNEL CAKE!!!!!

What are the wrist bands for??

Allison, as I understand CW, the kids get a wristband depending on their height. It makes it easier for the attendants to check. I think that I remember my niece and nephew being excited when someone's colour changed last year. HTH

Yep, what debbie said above. Indicates the rides that the child is tall enough for. The line up at the first kiosk just inside the gates near the right turn to the dragon flyer is always huge first thing in the morn, so i always run by it and go to the kiddie area to get in a couple popular rides first then go back later if it isn't busy or just wait and the attendants at the rides have the measuring stick there too and wristbands as well so we just wait till our daughter rides a ride that she needs to be checked for. (she was too tall for a few this year in the kiddie area, she was very disappointed)

Thanks, that is what I thought after I took a minute to think about it. Is there any place to get maps ahead of time. WE are going on Friday and I would like to have a "plan" before arriving.

Of the bigger rides which are the most kid friendly. I think both kids are at least 48 inches and do enjoy thrill rides. Mom is very afraid of hights and refuses to go upside down, will there be anything I can handle ( I can handle goofy's barnstormer at Toon Town and that is about my limit.)

Click on the map and it will come up in Adpbe and you can play around with it or print it off. I noticed that the site also has a planning feature for families with kids of different ages, recommending what rides are best for that age group. You might want to check that out. There's also a list somewhere of all the rides and the height restrictions on them.
