Hi gang,
I could really use some advice from everyone here on a problem DH has faced me with.:rolleyes1
A little background... DH and I have had 3 "deluxe" disney trips planned over the last 4 years before we bought DVC... every time we had to cancel the trip due to the Navy pulling DH away early or changing our dates at the last minute.. things like that (part of the Job.. and I love his job, so I'm not complaining there) Well then we bought DVC last Oct and thought we'd never do things like the platinum plan again since we had accomidations paid for.. we started doing the basic DP... then when we deicded to go back down for one more trip in Sept before our APs expired we decided to take one more stab:laughing: at the DxDP so I made several GREAT ADRs and they changed several times :lmao: then Friday DH calls me at work and tells me he's 40 pounds over navy weight limit (this is normal, not like it happened overnight) and he has 2 months to loose the weight or he will be kicked out (again, not something he didn't know, but for some reason Friday he freeked out about it:confused3 ) and we can't keep our DxDP or Ressies b/c he can't eat like that right before the weigh-in in Oct:mad:
Anyway... I discovered the thing I'm looking forward to most is eating at the places we've got planned Here's the plans-
1900 Park Fare- Breakfast and Dinner;
Kona Cafe- Breakfast
Garden Grill- Lunch
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Jiko's
Tuscar House- Breakfast
Yak & Yeti- Lunch
Boma's-Dinner
Whispering Canyon Cafe- Breakfast
Raglan Rd- Dinner

Now it's our first time eating at several of them.. and I know we could just go and pay OOP for everything, but I know how we are, and I will be looking at prices of everything and won't eat as "good"popcorn:: :scared: as I would if everything was prepaid. So here's what I was thinking: (Please no flames)
if I took DH off the DVC ressies and Just paid for the DxDP for myself and we preteneded he wasn't even there.. then DH could get salads everywhere that was sit-down and we'll have to figure out something else for him for the Buffetts (1900; Bomas; Tuscar House) but that way we're not paying the $70 a day for him when he can't eat half that amount of food or snacks.
What do you guys think? is this do-able?? I know it probably isn't "Correct" by disney standards... but what happens when someone has had Gastric Bypass and the rest of their party is on the dinning plan? I've heard that they get child's price at buffets, but that's what got me started thinking about it... DH litterally can't eat all that food 2 weeks before he has the most impt weigh-in ever (that's if he manages to loose 40 lbs in the next 2 months.. won't be done the really healthy way, but as long as he can get it off then I can help him keep it off healthy) and I refuse to cancel another Deluxe trip, but I also don't want to have to pay for DH when he will just feel bad that we pd all that food and he'll wind up eating all that food:sick:
Please help!

What about switching you both to standard plan? That way he can use a credit at the buffets and you can use his extra credits where needed. You may fall a couple short but could pay out of pocket for those. You could also reduce the number of buffet/family style meals to save credits and to make it a little easier for him.

I might suggest looking at the menus a bit and really find out if you would be saving much money. I am planning a trip for my family and my parents and it seems we will be saving some but because we have our two kids at the 19.99/day rate. When I figured my parents' cost, it didn't really seem to save much. Sure if you factor in appetizer, main and dessert for EACH but they would normally never order nor eat that much. If you had DXDP, ordering all the courses offered might really be hard for your husband to watch. I can understand your desire to hit those restaurants though. If it were me, I wouldn't change where you are eating... maybe just how you pay for them. If it has hard for you to look at the prices and pay oop, would it work to tell yourself that you would have paid that amount or more if your husband was eating his normal diet anyway?

Thanks for the suggestion... I've thought about this.. I guess my hang-up is just a technical Deluxe issue :rolleyes1... I want that Appitizer that comes with the DxDP; I want that resort mug (DH never wants to buy one, so it would be my first resort mug :goodvibes )... but that is still an option

Good idea... that was our main deciding factor though, is that you get all 3 courses, so we picked places with food that we'd eat for all 3 courses. I don't plan on cleaning my plate, but having a sample of different things is what I'm looking forward to most at some of these places... guess we're going to wait until it gets closer and see how DH is doing on his diet and what he feels like eating/ how much weight he's lost.

Thanks again for all the tips... really made me think.. I don't know why switching to the regular dinning plan didn't occur to me:confused3 I knew you guys would be able to offer some ideas.:worship:
