I am looking to find out if anyone has the nursing tanks from Glamourmom. How do they fit, is there any support to them, and does the XL really fit 40-46 D-F?

I am also looking for a comfy chair for those night time feedings. I have read some not so good reviews on glider/rockers and didn't know if there was anything better.

Thanks for the help!

I love the nursing tanks from Target and they are only 16.99! I have never tried Glamourmom and I'm sure they are great as they cost like $40 :) The Target ones are nice and long and they are really comfy.

I love my glider, you really need to try them out before you buy one. The first one I got broke really quickly, I have one now that is from WalMart and it has held up quite well. The ones at Babies R Us are really nice, but are expensive...I definately think that a glider is a helpful when nursing and rocking baby to sleep.

I wasn't a fan of the wooden gliders and wanted something more squishy so we ended up prdering an overstuffed chir w/glider thru Ethan Allen it was reasonable enough we felt.

Never ordered form Glamourmom considered it but i found some great tanks form Mimi Maternity so i stuck with those.

We follow a modified attachment parenting style. All of our children slept in our bed and nursed on demand so this may not be too helpful but I want to share what worked for us. This type of parenting is not for everyone. We tried with each one to have them sleep in their own cradle.

After a week or so of no sleep, we just followed our own ways and had the baby sleep in our bed with a co-sleeper. It really is a much easier way to sleep and nurse. I know everyone has their own ideas and warnings - about co-sleeping. That's all good, we all need to parent in our own ways.

We did try a different chair with each child and finally just decided that we all slept better together. For what it's worth- each child had moved to their own room and bed by the time they neared three years old.

One thing that helped me nurse in my chairs was to put a pillow behind the small of my back.

I have 4 of the Target tanks...love them! I haven't tried Glamourmoms but I do have a Bravado tank. It offers more support but it's a bit tight.

I found the Target tanks run a bit small. I'm a 36DD and I usually wear a med/large shirt but I find the XL fit the best.

IMO, Glamourmom tanks run small (at that size, you definitely want the bra tank - the straps are too skinny to support on the regular tanks). I was a 38D while nursing and still felt like the GM bra tank didn't offer quite enough support. I also didn't like the bullseye look of the tank (that is, you'll want to wear something over it all the time). I much preferred to nurse with a nursing bra and a loose t-shirt that I could lift up as needed. I tried the Target nursing tanks and liked them better for the money but still preferred the bra + t-shirt combo.

With my first DS, I had an oversized chair + ottoman in his room that we liked to nurse in, but it was hard to get out when he fell asleep in my arms. For some reason, the glider + ottoman wasn't comfy for me with him. With #2, I fell in love with the glider + ottoman and we still use it to read books in the evening. I wish that we had gotten one with a recline, though.

I cosleep with my 10 week old and she's been sleeping thru the night since 3 weeks. LOL, this is quite unusual for me. DD#1 didn't STTN until 18 months.

Not sure if it's the co-sleeping (didn't with DD#1) or just a personality thing. But I'm lovin' it!

Another vote for the Target nursing tanks. I'm a 44DD and the XL fit me just fine.

We used a cosleeper in the early months and I would just nurse the kids back to sleep (we have two kids) in our bed and then put them back in the cosleeper.

I agree with Colinsmom, the glamourmom definately run small. For the price of them I would try the one from Target first. I'm in Canada so I haven't tried that one but they do sell them in Wal-Mart as well, they run a bit short for me. I love the nursing bras from Bravado and a friend of mine swears by the tanks.

I'm fine w/ the nursing bra and t-shirt...except for the summer. During the summer the tanks were SO much easier at home.. and TONS cooler!

I use the target tanks and I am a 38 DD. We also co-sleep most of the time. sometimes DD 10 months will sleep all night in the crib sometimes she will not go in at all. I refuse to fight about it.
I have this glider it is made by Best chairs inc. We bought it at a local furniture shop in 2002. It is built well and will probably be passed down to my eldest DD when she has kids.

Congratulations on your impending arrival

OP I just saw that you are in So. Jersey. I got my rocker at Seaside Furniture on RT. 37 just before the bridge. It wasn't cheep but it still looks and works as well as it did the day I got it.

We purchased our last glider from the NurtureCenter website (they were also offering free shipping!). We have the upholstered 173 model, and absolutely love it! There were hundrends of different fabric samples to choose from. We like the fact that it is piece of "real furnature" that fits into our decor and doesn't screem nursery, and it is sooo comfy!

Can't comment on the nursing tank question, but I bought a Lazy boy recliner with my little one and it worked wonderfully, a little big but we still use it as a regular chair now, just moved it out of my dd's room. And now it works well for me to read her a story or if she just wants to snuggle. I personally never liked the gliders beacuse there aren't any full arms and my dd and I use to sleep in the chair regularly since she had reflux when she was an infant and it worked so well, once she feel asleep i could really recline and sleep. JMHO

Another vote for the Target nursing tanks! It's very comfy and offered me enough support. And if I really wanted more support I'd wear a nursing bra under the tank! I started as a 36 F if not bigger and am now a 36 DD and still wear the same tank comfortably. And I loved it last summer!

As far as the glider...I think it's just a trial and error to see where you'll be most comfortable nursing. I thought I'd love nursing in the glider but I was always very uncomfortable. I mostly just nurse on the reclining seat of our couch, that's worked the best for us!

Good luck!

I am in the minority but cannot stand the Target nursing tank I purchased. It is nowhere near long enough to offer any coverage of my waist, and I do not have a long torso at all. I also didn't like how exposed I felt when unclasping to nurse and not very supported then. For me, it was a complete waste of money.

The GM tank I have is much nicer. Far better quality and decent support. The material is long enough to tuck in during winter or leave out in summer. Some people claim they can exercise in them. I would never, but it works well enough for the average day.

We used a Lazy Boy rocker recliner like a pp mentioned. My infant knew the difference between gliding and rocking and did NOT like the gliding motion. We are now on our 3rd and 4th rocking chairs because we actually wore two out! The key elements of a rocking chair for nursing:
1. Tall enough back to rest your head
2. Comfortable when you lean your head back; some are tall but just not comfy. It matters
3. Padded arms; because nothing feels worse than bonking your child's head on the bare wooden arm
4. Right seat height and depth. One of ours is too short and not fun to push off with your feet.
5. I really like the recline and foot rest features, Ds spent a lot of time napping upright on our chests.

I will grant that we ended up spending more time in a rocking chair with our reflux/preemie issues than most families might, but I have spent countless hours in them over the last two years. Napped there with baby, lots of time nursing and relaxing. Comfort has been really important, the rocking char is not a place to cheap out.

I love, love, love the Target Tank nursing bras. I am a..ehem...large-boned girl, so with my four previous babies, I skipped tha tank scene. I came across the Target ones after I had my fifth baby and SOOOOOO wished that I had them for the first four. They were comfy and practical for us. Actually, I haven't been nursing my youngest for 3 months and I am stll sleeping in the tank on occasion!!! They are just really comfy.

About the glider, I always purchased mine via consignment. This last one, I bought for 50 bucks (in GREAT condition) and then sold it about a month ago for 40. I got over a year's use form it for 10 bucks. It is an item that a lot of people don't hang onto after their baby grows, due to space concerns. That would be my advice. Look for a reputable consignment sale and get there early :o)

can't help with the tanks, but we did buy a Lazy Boy recliner/rocker the day before DS was born and it was the BEST investment ever! He is now two and that chair is used daily at some point, DH is almost 6' and I am 5'2" and it is comfy for both of us. We have all slept in it at some point over the past two years including DD who still (at 12) likes to camp out in mom and dad's room on occassion. When I was nursing DS I used a regular bed pillow to help make he and I more comfortable in the chair, I must be short waisted because a boppy pillow was just to bulky for us. I wouldn't trade that chair for anything! It has been great!!

I use the Target tanks as sleepwear, but I'm a bit too well-endowed to wear them out on the street unless I'm wearing a camp shirt over them -- too much bounce, and the white is also too translucent. Can't help you on the other brand; I took one look at the price and balked. Way too pricey for being subjected to spit-up all the time. BTW, I'm 5'4", and the Target tanks are quite long on me, my XL completely covers my tush.

Mostly I just wear ordinary v-neck tees and drop-cup nursing bras from Motherhood (they have a decent one for $16 that I have 6 of.) The V-neck makes it easier to reach in and work the clasps from the top, but a scoop-neck would work just as well. I just find wide scoops kind of revealing at the moment.

PS: I prefer the My Brest Friend pillow to the boppy, when your back is killing you it's possible to briefly stand up still wearing it, so I found it easier to position. Generally you won't need a pillow anymore by the time baby is about 3 months; those are only important at first when kiddo is too small to reach from your lap, and when your back is not yet used to the arm position.
