I sold an item and mailed it to the confirmed address this evening (went in the automated box) I got an email AFTER the sale asking to please send it to his new address (same town different st). If I go to the PO in the am will they let me change this? It was a $100 item and I am sick about losing that much $. Paypal ALWAYS sides with the buyer. I mailed it to his CONFIRMED address though so I don't know what will happen.

I believe you should be OK mailing to the winner's confirmed address. The buyer should have a change of address on file with the USPS & they'll catch it & forward to the new one. At least, that's what I think will happen.

Since you've already sent it, all you can do is let them know you mailed the item already to their confirmed address & suggest they be sure they've filed a change of address form to the USPS?

I hope this turns out OK for you.

Thanks, I thought I would go to the PO early in the morning and try to change it, but then I wouldn't be shipping to a confirmed address! I didn't think about the forwarding thing, hopefully they would forward a package.

I agree! I would NOT ship to an address that was not a confirmed address.

I agree. You shipped to the confirmed address per paypal's policy. They guy should have changed his address w/ paypal BEFORE paying or he should have contacted you BEFORE buying. I'd just send him an email stating that it's too late, you already shipped so he knows what to expect.

You did the right thing. Never ship to an unconfirmed address. You would not be protected in that scenario. As others have said, the buyer should have updated his shipping info before bidding. Depending on how the package was sent it will be forwarded to the new address or it will be returned to you -- that is if the buyer put in a change of address at the PO. If he/she was living with another person and just moved out, then that other person at the address where you sent the package could end up with it. It's the buyer's mistake -- not yours. Even if someone asked me after the auction to ship to an unconfirmed address, I would not do it.
