OT: Need Advice on Scooter for DD

My dd just turned 6 and wants a scooter from Santa. She has some balance problems and cannot ride a bike yet. She is small for her age (43 inches tall). Can anyone recommend a scooter that might be easier to ride. I looked on Amazon, but would love some from feedback from my fellow disers.

My daughter just turned 6 on November 1st and had been asking for a scooter all summer. She still rides with her training wheels (This is probably a lot our fault in all honesty) but I was really doubtful she could use a scooter. But she got one for her birthday (from my sister on my recommendation) and has been in love with that thing. AND she is doing great. It's a little 2 wheeled Barbie scooter from Walmart.....nothing fancy but she loves it and is doing really well. You might be surprised how well your dd does on one. But if you are really concerned they do have little scooters with one wheel in front and two in back that might work. DD is 48" tall so they were too small for her - I know they say 3 and up but I'm not sure how big they really are. Good luck...I know I was pleasantly surprised at how well DD has done on her scooter.

Take your DD to the toys store and let her test some models out. You might be surprised at how she can handle a scooter. I know lots of kids that were riding two wheeled scooters long before they rode two wheeled bikes. The toy store will also have the three wheeled models too if she needs a little extra support.

i have two children who are disabled and neither can ride a bike without training wheels, but both can ride the scooter fine. it makes them feel really good! hope you have the same luck.
