Where do you stay?

I've only been twice in 16 years...once when DS 14 was 4 and DS9 was in the tummy...went in 2007 with parents...their coin...and the place was alright...but don't remember the names of either place.

Want something Oceanfront with pools and Lazy Rivers.

Been looking at the Captians Quarters. Anybody been there...good?...bad? :confused3

My parents like staying at Captain's Quarters. I like staying at The Breakers. My sister likes staying at Dunes village. Check Dunes out. The next time I go, we are staying at Sheraton Plantation, but it is not on the beach (It is also free thanks to lastminutetravel.com). Dunes Village would be my choice b/c it is newer and has indoor water slides. My sis took ds with her there and he loved it.

The Landmark is nice too. Captain's Qtrs has it's own bowling alley. Have fun! We are here now but camping at the State Park. Great place btw.

We are staying at Long Bay resort (reccomendation of a co-worker) Hope she is right!!

We visit myrtle beach every year and stay at Wyndham Seawatch resort. It is a fabulous place. You can rent one, two and three bedroom condominiums there. It is oceanfront and has 2 lazy rivers, 5 outdoor pools, 2 indoor pools, and at least 8 hot tubs. There is a tiki bar at the pool that serves beer and cocktails during the busier seasons. They also have an oceanfront restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as an ice cream stand that serves during the day. During the summer, they have a DJ at the pool from 12-4 twice a week that organizes fun and games. It really makes for a week of family fun. It is located on the Northern end of Myrtle beach just before you get to the city of North Myrtle. We like this area alot. It is not in the middle of the very busy traffic area of Myrtle beach but there is still enough going on around it.We have teenagers and have been staying here since they were toddlers. They have loved going here and still look forward to returning every year now that they are teenagers (16 and 13). The price of renting here varies depending on when you will be visiting. :surfweb:

We are staying at Island Vista resort in 2 weeks. My mother and father inlaw are paying for our trip, and we are traveling with them. They stayed there last year, and liked it. They are picky people so if they liked it then it is probably really nice! This will be our first trip there.

WE stayed at the Coral Reef this spring. Nice place. There are SO many choices, just do a google on Myrtle Beach. REally depends on whether you want to be "right in the middle" or a less crowded area. We prefer then later. Coral Reef in on the South end of Myrtle. North Myrtle also has a lot of great places too. We like Ocean Cheek there. North has lots of shows. Check out Broadway by the Beach, Alligater adventure, and Ripley's aquarium. Landry's Seafood is great. There is also a Hard Rock Cafe and MANY seafood buffets. We like the giant Crab.

We stay at The Caravelle Resort. It's not right in the middle of town, it's on the edge of town so it's not quite as crowded. There is a big pool, kid pool, lazy river, kiddie lazy river, hot tub, and a big kids water play area. It is really neat. There is also an indoor pool and hot tub on the 7th floor. We really enjoy it there! It's near another nice resort, the Ocean Reef I believe it's called. I've also heard good things about that resort.

As a PP stated, the Giant Crab is awesome! One of the best seafood buffets ever!!! Don't miss it!

We're staying at the Sea Watch in July. It comes highly recommended so I hope it's nice. We are planning the Plaza Theater Circus show one day and a dolphin watch one day.

We will be home on June 14th. I'll let you know. The pictures look really nice. They also have kids activities going on all day that I think the kids will like. My in-laws are REALLY picky. If they are going back to the same place they stayed last year, it is sure to be really nice. :rotfl:

I'm glad someone asked this question because just this morning DH decided to change from Disney next summer for our "honeymoon" to Myrtle Beach.

I think I'm going to look into this Wyndam hotel because we will be finally taking our honeymoon 7years after getting married and we want something nice.

We just got back from Dunes Village Resort and I would definitely recommend it, particularly if you have young kids! I am very picky about where we stay and was very pleased with the condo we rented at DV. There is an indoor lazy river and an outdoor lazy river, and too many pools and hot tubs to count. I thought it was a great value and my kids can't wait to go back. I even heard one little boy comment that he liked DV better than Disney! :thumbsup2

Hi, we stay at the Grande Shores every year, we go in Feb for the marathon, it is closer to North MB, which means closer to the shopping and they do have a Disney Outlet there!! Grande Shores is right on the beach and have condo's and hotel rooms and a brand new sister hotel was just built right behind it. You can check out their website it also has a live camera, Have fun :thumbsup2,

I personally prefer Ocean Dunes/Sand Dunes. I live 45 min from Myrtle Beach and that is my favorite resort there--the beach at the hotel is semi-private, which is great.

We just got home yesterday from the Island Vista Resort in Myrtle beach. It was a very nice place. They had 2 outdoor pools, and 2 indoor. 1 with a lazy river. 1 indoor pool was very shallow for the little kids. We were on the 11th floor corner unit with 3 bedrooms. The staff was very friendly, and over all the place seemed very clean and new. However, my son found stuff under the beds. Even though they were the boxed in frames. Just between the comforter and the frames he found an MP3 player, a sock, a barrette, and a kids toy car. :confused3

The beach in front of the hotel was never very crowded. If you want a chair by the pool you need to get down there early! They had activities by the pool for the kids like sea shell painting and pool games. It was very family friendly, and it was perfect for us. It was also very quiet and we slept good. There was no unit above us, so I don't know how a middle floor would be.

Parking wasn't very good. The spots were tiny. When we left they charged us for 2 local phone call which we never made. :confused3 It was strange, but only $ .50 so we didn't argue it.

It didn't feel like we were in the middle of the action. It was more away from the crowds which was good for us. We would go back again.
