Ot: Myrtle Beach

I've been to Myrtle Beach during Harley Week and it was awful. Loud bikes all hours of the day an night.

Was also there during Black Bike Week. Saw a lot of bikes but noise wasn't a problem at all.

Here it is:

"Hard Rock Park: New in 2008, a whole theme park from the famous brand of rock'n'roll-themed restaurants and hotels. Lots of attractions, including coasters with names like "Led Zeppelin - The Ride"; live-music amphitheater; kids' play areas and lots more.
Update: so soon, in late 2008, the Hard Rock Park filed for bankruptcy. Hopefully it will reopen; read comments from About.com's Guide for Theme Parks."

And another one:

Hard Rock Park isn't going to reopen. They've gone beyond just filing for bankruptcy. Things are being sold off. http://www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/2009-01-06-hard-rock-park_N.htm

It is a real shame. We went there last year and thought in a few years it would be a really good park. It just needed a few seasons to get a few more rides.

I like this hotel! Did access to the water park features all come as part of the cost of staying there or did you have to pay extra?

It was all included in the price. We had a two bedroom condo that overlooked the ocean. It was very new and very clean.

Hi there,

How does Myrtle Beach compare to Virginia Beach?
We were at Virginia Beach last July and we loved it, however life is short and we want to try something new? Is is worth the extra distance? How are the prices in the summer months?

Thanks,

Ham Ham...( or anyone who cares to share!)

If you are still there....

You sugested staying in the Greensboro area.

Would you mind giving me some more info on that, as to where you have stayed or suggest? Not even sure how far from Buffalo this is. Is it half way? I was thinking about driving , maybe 10 hrs and saving the rest for the next day. Would that make a stop in Greensboro doable?

We have only ever travelled the I75 and I am not familiar with this route. Caa recommended taking the I75:confused3 :confused3 which I found odd, as your route is much shorter.

Again, I very much appreciate your feedback. (and everyone's elses too!)

I'm on the eastern side of the GTA so we cross at 1,000 islands bridge and go down HWY 81 and 95.

It takes us about 18 hours of driving to get there. We leave right after work (4ish) and drive until midnight or so.

We try to stay overnight anywhere past Harrisburg Virginia.

We stay here.

It has an indoor/outdoor pool and restaurants on site so after a long day of driving we park the car eat and have a swim.

Thanks!:thumbsup2 Very much ....really appreciate it!

After I posted this DH booked Spirit airlines (from Detroit to Myrtle beach) for $35.00 each way ( it was a great deal!) so we are now flying. Kids are happy... I was looking forward to the drive... and all the goodies I could have brought back! I think Spirit wants $30 for a bag roundtrip, which defeats the idea of a cheap flight, so it will be carry ons for this trip.

Do you know they charge $12 a seat too? Each way! Wow, next thing you know they will be charging us for consumption of oxygen!!!
