OT Mildew smell in bathing suit

I recently found a plastic bag with my husband's dirty and wet bathing suit. He hasn't swam in a few months, so you can imagine the condition of the suit! It cleaned up pretty well, but I can't seem to get the mildew smell out. Is there any hope for this garment? I have never had this happen before, I don't want to throw out his suit, but I also can't have it stinking up the house!

Soak it in a bucket of hot water with a cup of white vinegar and see if that helps.

Wash that sucker again with Lestoil. Or go the vinegar route - vinegar is soom good stuff. LOL

I see you are going to Disney in 25 days. I say try the vinegar then if it doesn't work just go and buy a new suit for Disney. If it is in the budget.

Thanks all - I will be trying the vinegar trick as well...have a suit that has been washed several times and I'm too stubborn to give up!

Men's suits are pretty cheap.
I would toss that thing & go buy a new one.

Febreze came out with a product called Febreze laundry odor eliminator. It costs like 5.99 per bottle but your clothes smell soo good afterwards.

That happened with my son's soccer jersey: it sat in the bottom of his bag and got mildew stains all over it which wouldn't come out with vinegar. I took it to the dry cleaners and they couldn't get them out but lightened them significantly so you might want to try that if the vinegar doesn't work.

Me too - bag and all. I wouldn't have even opened that sucker up!
