OT ?? memory foam mattress topper

Hi, I recently purchased a memory foam mattress topper for my son from Overstock. It is on its way and I do not know if I need to purchase a MATTRESS PAD to put on top of the topper?? He has a mattress pad on his regular mattress. OR do I just use the sheets on top of the memory foam?? THANKS, Joan

I put my kids foam toppers under their current mattress pads.

Every memory foam I've bought comes with a pillowcase covering, which is really fun to wrestle the mattress into. Then I use a mattress pad on top of that to hold it in place.

I just put my kids sheets over the topper. One thing: When you first get it, it can have a "chemically" (is that a word? ) smell. Its normal, but I febrezed them, just to overpower the smell a little. It goes away after a couple days.

I bought a mattress topper for my son when he left for college. It has its own mattress pad. But I bought a pillow top mattress pad to go over it in order to put a little space between him and the memory foam. Those toppers can get very warm. I dont think they breathe well. Plus the mattress pad keeps it from shifting. Hes a pretty restless sleeper.

Thanks for all the input! I will wait until I get it and see what it comes with. And I will plan on airing it out for a few days before using. Joan
