McDonald's® 3n1 Debuts Unique Dining Experience in Lincoln, Nebraska

Innovative Restaurant Concept To Open Wednesday, October 9

Lincoln, Neb. (Oct. 14, 2002) After months of anticipation, Lincoln residents will get their first taste of a unique dining experience. McDonald's 3n1 will open its doors for breakfast at 6:00am on Tuesday, October 15, 2002, as the first of its kind in the world.

The restaurant, located at 5800 Old Cheney Road, offers three different restaurant experiences in one really special place. Visiting McDonald's 3n1, Lincoln-area customers now have the option of dining at their own pace while enjoying table service with a vast food variety of brand new selections from Sandwich & Platter Shop and Bakery & Ice Cream Shop menus, in addition to traditional McDonald's favorites.

McDonald's 3n1 invites customers to take a seat, relax and order via a special red phone at their table. Although this new concept offers table service, a no tipping policy adds to the overall value of the experience. McDonald's 3n1 also features a special To Go area for ordering and pick-up. Customers can phone in orders in advance by calling the Carry-Out phone number at 402/421-8303.

The new restaurants were developed best in class in the mid-scale dining arena, offering customers the highest quality, made-to-order food and table service in a fun place with a comfortable dining room, all at a great value, remarks Tom Ryan, Corporate Executive Vice President and Chief Concept Officer of McDonald's. McDonald's 3n1 was designed for adult and family restaurant meal occasions. We are excited to see how our Lincoln customers react to this new McDonald's experience."

McDonald's 3n1 is another example of McDonald's innovation and break-through concepts in the restaurant business. This unique dining experience enables McDonald's to satisfy more people who enjoy the experience of table service dining while still pleasing those that enjoy the traditional McDonald's experience.

McDonald's 3n1 offers a variety of menu items and conveniences to fit busy lifestyles:

* Hot and cold specialty sandwiches including the Beef & Cheese, New York Reuben, Chicken Parmigiana and Clubhouse, plus hot, open-face sandwiches
* Hearty platters including Country Fried Steak, Meatloaf and Roasted Half Chicken dinners
* Bakery and Ice Cream Shop featuring cinnamon rolls, cheesecake, carrot cake, ice cream sundaes, extra-thick shakes and Swirlers?
* McDonald's favorites like the Big Mac® Sandwich

Lincoln's McDonald's 3n1 is located at 5800 Old Cherry Road. It will serve:

* Breakfast 6:00am to 10:30am (weekdays); Extended Breakfast hours on the weekend until 2:00pm.
* Lunch 10:30am through 4:00pm.
* Dinner 4:00pm until closing at 11:00pm. (Traditional McDonald's favorites will be available at the Drive-Thru from 11:00-12:00pm.)
* Saturday and Sunday extended dinner hours until closing at midnight with traditional McDonald's favorites available at the Drive-Thru from midnight 1:00am.

McDonald's is the world's leading foodservice retailer with 30,000 restaurants serving 46 million customers each day in 121 countries. Approximately 80 percent of McDonald's U.S. restaurants are owned and operated by independent, local businessmen and women.

Sounds very interesting, i would like to visit one. Escpecially if they have a playland i can dump my kids in and eat in peace!!!

Wow--The phone concept takes me back to drive-in ordering through "the box". And the food selection finally contains non-fried foods......
Any idea if it will make it's way into Illinois where it all began ??

My understanding is the 3n1 in Lincoln is the only one in the country, so far. (test market)
Here is what the local paper also printed earlier this month:
"McDonald's recently dipped its toe into non-fast-food markets, opening diner-style "McDiner" restaurants in Indiana and Kentucky and debuting a single "3'n1" restaurant in Lincoln in October. The 3'n1 features fast-food, deli-style and ice cream menus."
