Sorry - this isn't remotely budget related - but google has turned up nothing. I'm desperate.

We redid our family room about 4 months ago. New laminate floor, new leather couch and chair, new paint (premium quality, the brand Lowes carries). Whenever the leather touches the wall, it sticks to the paint. It has pulled away paint to the drywall in several spots. We kept a leather chair from our old set and it does not stick.
The paint had over a week to dry before the couch came and, anyway, it is still doing it after 4 months! They are recliners and slide easily on the laminate so the dogs/kids are always pushing it back. It's driving me crazy! :headache:
Anyone ever had this happen and/or have any suggestions?!? The only thing I've thought of is draping a throw across the back but I don't really want to do that. TIA

Hmmm...talk to a store that sells leather furniture before doing anything, but...what about spraying or treating the back of the couch with a special spray or lotion to make leather waterproof or condition it? Might stop it from sticking? We got treatment to make my DH's leather motorcycle water resistant, so the rain will bead up if he gets caught in the rain when he's out riding. I think it might be silicone based, which might make the leather smoother and not so prone to sticking. Anyway, don't do it before talking to an expert! Just an idea, though...

Thanks - sounds like it might work. I'll check into it. Where did you buy the spray?

My leather couch does this and it is a burgundy color which rubs off on the wall. So I too am interested in any input. I just try to keep the couch from touching the wall. While we are on the topic of leather couches anyone know how to get rid of scratches in the leather?

Target, I think...in the shoe care section. It says it's safe for all leather, but since a couch is a HUGE investment, I'd definitely check with the furniture store first. Even if it changed the color of the leather slightly, it might not be really noticeable on the back of the sofa. We used it on my DH's black leather jacket, and didn't notice any color change or anything like that at all.

The scratches are mainly on the seats thanks to the dog.

Sorry, I've never had any luck with scratches - small ones may "disappear" a bit with a good leather conditioner, but they'd have to be pretty small. We keep the dogs off of our new couch and cover it when we're not home.

Thanks Katiebell. :thumbsup2 I will try to ask someone at the furniture store about it.

Oh, and FWIW - the new stuff is better quality leather than the old (non-sticking) chair.
