Ok, so I wanted to share this analysis I just did!
I generally make Wal-mart my first shop for popular toysLego, or Littlest Pet Shop or whatever. I picked up some stuff on the kids wish list last weekend. For dd, two packs of that new Magic Fabric stuff and two packs of Zoobles. Total, including tax, $56.07. I checked out the big TRU flyer yesterday and Im going tomorrow morning The Magic Fabric stuff is 35% off Sat/Sun, AND the regular price of the starter kit is $2 less than I paid at WalMart. So, same exact product, 19.94 at WalMart, and 11.67 tomorrow at TRU. Now, the Zoobles are a mixed bagwith 25% off Ill pay less for the 2-pack, but the single pack on sale is the same as the regular price at Walmart. Anyway, just by exchanging those 4 items and buying tomorrow at TRU, Ill bring that $56 total down to $38.06. And the selection at Wal Mart was pretty picked over, so Im hoping I come away with nicer ones.
Also havent bought the Lego and Kung Zhu ds wanted yet b/c Im too cheap for the regular prices at Walmart!! Tomorrow both are reduced 25% at TRU. Happy dancing.
Ive found in other respects WalMart can have good prices, but youve got to watch it Ive got to stop assuming TRU is always expensive and Walmart is always cheap.
For the less mass market stuff, I managed to get some good different stuff online at scholars choice. Theres a Scholars Choice here in Halifax (Dartmouth), and while I love the stock, its just a chore to brave the constant crowds in this small store. For some reason last week I stumbled on a good sale at their online store, and got some cool unusual stuff. (Like a mini-plasma ball, like they have at science centres, for $10!)
Ok, so Im a competitive shopper.
I loooove getting a good deal, not just on airfare!
