Any parties lately that I've missed?

Sorry I haven't been around so much. We spent the last 2 weekends going to some local theme parks. Sort of end of summer / before school starts mini-vacations. During the day then I've been trying to get into the back to school routine and also make wedding stuff. My dad is getting is married in 3 weeks and I volunteered to do all the floral stuff -- bouquets, corsages, decorations and such. He's getting married outside at a local park and the parks dept. has a rule about no professional photographers so I also volunteered to photograph the wedding. I've been trying to brush up on my skills there too.

Busy busy busy.

I plan to finish my Secret shopping this weekend and get that in the mail on Monday.

Hope everybody is doing great!!

My project for the summer was supposed to be to thin the ivy that grows around our house, but desided to get started on the painting it. I though 2, maybe 3 weeks. It has taken me all summer. I should finish today! Yippee!

Then the last week of July was Sports camp. I help with the children of the parents working it. The very next week was Girl Scout Day Camp. Two weeks have passed since then and I've felt just as busy.

This week my middle child turned 7, so we went to the Rainforest Cafe Wednesday night, then last night we hosted a Backyard BBQ. And tomorrow is DS birthday party!

I have next week to recover from my summer, then school starts. I can sooooo relate to the busy, busy, busy.

I just love the idea of visiting theme parks for mini-vacations. That sounds very fun! We've visited Portland OR and Vancouver BC for minis this summer. We travel with my DH as much as possible when he goes out of town on business.

Thanks for sharing!

Oh lets see...

Tonight I have to work, 5-10...Tomorrow is my DS's birthday Party, which is Buzz Lightyear Themed, but he insisted on a Spongebob Squarepants Pinata! (I can just see the mess this is going to make!:p)

Monday and Tuesday I am working 11-9 and Wednesday is the first day of school! :)

I am busy all week! :)

Well, since you asked...

We are in the middle of building a new house so I have been painting and cleaning up after the sub-contractors every night. I get to start filling in the holes of the trim work today :D My life is so exciting!

The kids start school Wed and I feel relieved that I won't have to entertain them while I work on the house.

We did go on a quick trip to Cedar Point for a couple days but other then that we have stayed home and played with friends.

Sounds like we're all in the same boat. TOO BUSY TO PARTY! That is sooooo sad.

I've been finishing up my part-time summer job. I put away all the supplies that come into our elementary school and make all new bus tags for the 330 students in grades K-2. Hopefully they'll all be getting on the right bus at the end of the school day!

Then I've been running my oldest DS to tons of doctor appointments to find out what is wrong with him. He's been having stomach problems off and on since March, but it's to the point that he can't eat anymore. He has an Upper GI and an ultrasound scheduled for Monday morning. The latest guesses are that he either has irritable bowel or gallstones. Then we're in the process of getting youngest DS diagnosed with an Auditory Processing Disorder. It's appointments, appointments, appointments, money, money, money.....

Sorry, not trying to be a downer, but I just am feeling a little off kilter with everything going on.

Employees (that's me) have to report to school on Monday and then the kiddos start on Tuesday. Guess another summer bites the dust.

The house is a mess. Thank goodness the lady cleans for me 2 times a month will be starting again next month. Can't justify splurging on her over the summer months.

At least DH and I have an anniversary trip planned! :bounce:

Hmm, it's been a busy summer. I was just given custody of my 2 1/2 mo. old niece (her Mom is my little sister) and I will be keeping her until my sister gets better and on her feet. If that doesn't happen....I will start adoption proceedings.

My DS is 17 and wants a car, and Dh has been busy with a legal project involving a local election. Add to that my in-laws 50th anniversary, my Mom & step-father's divorce, and the fun resulting from last week's blackout.

But all in all life is great and I'm looking forward to October 30 - the day I leave for Disney!

I forgot. This week I also did a 20 hour course for homeschooling. DH and I decided it was time to pull DD13 out of school.

I'm really excited about this. It's a little scary, though.

In March my parents are taking out whole family on a reunion trip to Hawaii!!!! There will be 20 of us that is going to be terrific!!!

Then in spring my DS is getting married to a wonderful girl!!!
Suddenly I feel so old!!! It will be worse when my DD gets married(she just informed us they were looking at diamonds!!!!)

Been busy lately getting ready for the boys to go back to school. Also been busy getting ready for BIL's wedding, which is the 30th. DH, youngest DS, and I are all in it. DH & I are the Godparents, so are in charge of the bride's bouquet and the cake. Our checkbook is taking a beating. :(

OK,
I'm boring, been working on building CttM's sister site (most nights til 5 AM, but working with a great bunch of guys)

Also helping hubby work our shop (we bought the deli where we met!!! How romantic, pbllllltttttttt)

Trying to get kids ready for school, boring summer for them too, but DD (13) has now got to have everything "Perfect for Popularity" (in my words, SNOB) and DS "fashion plated". Along with football and cheerleading...

Then there's chasing DD #2 around, cleaning up ice from the fridge ice maker, cleaning art work off the walls, floor, carpet, furniture, etc... No hope for getting her into preschool :(

That's about it, like I said, real boring...

Well, let's see. I've camping ALOT. When I get home I've been doing laundry and then packing again to get ready to go CAMPING again.
I have been trying to read and relax abit on the back deck. Housework can wait! I also got caught up with my DD's scrapbook and now need to start on the Disney one from last year.
I did have big plans but oh well. Now it's back into Brownies (I'm a deputy commissioner for our district this year) and my never ending volunteering (4 days a week) at Chloe's school starting next week.
I NEED A DRINK!

so it is meetings, volunteering, meetings, volunteering and did I say volunteering.....

Cleaning out our mini rental storage building no need to waste that money every month...

DS wanted a pet so DH and DS decided on a bunny....not my choice but hey it is quiet LOL

I love this thread kindof like the let's get to know each better one(I was going to bump that one last week but was waiting for the exchange to end first). I like these because we find out more about our RPPals and become a tighter group, and they are fun.

Mal;)

I totally agree with you Mal about getting to know each other. Maybe we can each write a mini bio. I'd write one now, but I'm soon getting ready to take 14 yo DS to get an ultrasound and Upper GI to find out why his stomach has been bothering him. The good news is the doctor says he's not losing any weight so that rules out anything major like a tumor or cancer. They think he might have irritable bowel or gall stones. Too much for a 14 yo!

totally agree. It is too much for a 14 yr old. Let's hope the doctors find out what it is soon.

I'm getting my two girls ready for school. I spent last weekend and I'll probably spend this week volunteering at the school to get it in shape for the kids to come in.

We took a trip to Florida to see family at the begining of the summer, but we didn't do much else vacation wise.

I'm planning a trip to Disneyland for the Tuesday after laborday weekend. Anyone know how that is for crowds? How is the "new" pooh ride? is it like the one in DW?

I'm trying to get the home office cleaned out (boxes from our move a year ago still in there), and I want to catch up on the kid's picture albums.

My big girl starts first grade this year, so I plan on doing alot of volunteering at the school. I don't know how I'll handle having her gone for a full day.

Good Luck Eller on the homeschooling. It is an idea our family is toying with, but for now we are happy the school is willing to work with us to give our girls what they need. I fell in love with "The Well Trained Mind", and the kids and I enjoyed studying history over the summer...They would beg for history lessons :)

faithhope -- You are already homeschooling.

If you've been thinking about it I recomend you read School Can Wait by Raymond S and Dorothy N Moore.

And find your local coop, they will be able to give you loads of information on what's available in your area. There is a qualifing class the covers everything and you would know, the law and what is required in your state.

I understand homeschooling isn't for everyone, but if you've been thinking about it and you're not ready for your child to be gone all day, maybe it's time to look into it.

If there is anything I can help you with, just let me know!

I've been sorta bummed about this summer thinking I ruined the whole summer for my family by breaking my ankle. We ended up cancelling our vacation to Disney and with it being my right ankle, no driving. But I started thinking about it and granted it did change things, but it wasn't that bad. Before the injury, we were able to make several trips up to Cedar Point. That's always a good time for my family. Love that Top Thrill Dragster, when it's running!LOL We went to the Indy500. Crazy time there. I was able to stay home with my 2 DDs for part of the summer. I normally work full time, but ankle break is keeping me off my feet. We were able to play so many games together. They seemed to enjoy taking care of me. They cooked lunch for me, usually spaghetti o's, grilled cheese, or something simple. They are 9 and 10. We would all take turns painting toe nails and finger nails. We would braid each others hair and find new ways to wear it. I think even though we weren't able to go on vacation or get to the pool as much, they had a good time having me home. They started back to school August 20. It's beens sorta lonely and quiet here without them. Now my DH and I are planning a bigger and better vacation for next summer. Of course, we are doing Disney. We had already purchased our PH from Ticketmania for this past trip. But yesterday, I received the cruise video from Disney. Thinking of maybe adding a 3 or 4 day cruise on to next summer's trip!

I have been playing catch-up. I haven't been online much the past few days, and haven't been doing any RP's! Still feeling kind of icky with the morning sickness. The expensive meds keep things from getting bad, but I'm not eating like I use to. I decided rather than sit online for hours on end, I would spend more time with DS while it's still just him around here. I'm also really exhausted at night, and find myself going to bed at 9:30, rather than midnight! I use to spend that time entering sweeps and reading email, but I have no desire to lately. Of course my inbox is overflowing.
