OT- Are you one of those people who believe things comes in three's? Well in our house something always happens the month before Christmas. Like last year our dryer went three weeks before Christmas. The year before 2 tv's went in November a week apart from each other etc. Today I found out my ds(12) needs braces and dd(10) will need them when her back molars grow in approx 6 months. Fortunately our health plan covers 50% but you have to pay up front and submit receipts to be reimbursed. Like my DM said it could be worse you could have 2 kids going into braces right before Christmas.

Does anyone else experience things like this like a run of three etc!

Hopefully not BUT we did just put $600 of orthodontic work into my 6.5yo ds' mouth - the turkey dentist we had before did some huge fillings and went too deep and he has had 2 of the 4 molars removed so far - 1 other one is on the verge of having to be removed but we are hoping to have him hold onto it at least until Jan 1 when his dental plan will kick back in again - 6.5yo and he maxed it out this year!

AND every time we do a Disney vacation we seem to buy a car/van right before - 2004 we went and had to replace our van the month before we went due to braking issues - dh seemed to think it was a good idea for MY van to have brakes :rolleyes: and this year dh replaced his car - why..... b/c he WANTED a new and apparently HAD to have the 2007 Camry.... sheesh MEN! Hopefully we won't need to replace one before our August trip next year!!

That happened 6 months after our last trip we ended buying a new 2005 minivan. I really really dislike vehicle payments, so we dipped into our savings and paid the whole thing off this summer...there goes our line of credit LOL but at least the van is paid for.:thumbsup2 We are finally down to 2 vehicles. My DH takes transit now every day because it costs 300 - 400 bucks a month to park downtown and then he has his "first baby" his '72 Mustang Mach 1:car:...which of course he drives only in the summer. His employer gives him a 600 dollar a month parking allowance so he just uses that to keep his "baby" running....it runs gallons per mile not miles per gallons:)
Fortunately we have not used any of our orthodontic portion of our plan for our kids and the new one starts in January but it always has to come at at inconvenient time. Christmas is coming and then WDW in February and then in 6 months another kid in braces.....I guess I should count my blesssings and be thankful we are able to provide for our kids...there are lots of kids out there with far more serious issues that never get the help they need.

Yes things like this always happen to us right before christmas, this year its our final payment for our trip is due on boxing day.. :cool1: However the colour tube on our old tv is going.. Everyone is really pink on it now and the MP3 player my husband got isnt compatable with our old rickety computer.. so its going to be a expensive 07 when we return from our trip.

I hear ya! Our furnace chose one of the coldest Boxing days in years to stop working...why is it they stop working on really cold days? And we live in the Okanagan so our temps are usually pretty moderate during the winter.

I went for a check up and apparently need a root canal. To fix the tooth will almost cost me $1000.00....and unfortunately we have no dental plan. It just sound so expensive to fix one tooth...pull the stupid thing out! But I guess then chewing may become a problem eh? (there goes the Canadian in me coming out again...)

I'm just crossing my fingers the tv doesn't go but it's been taking a lot of adjusting lately to get the color right......

There is some comfort in knowing that we aren't the only ones...
Husband had root canal done yesterday morning $1200.00 and that's before the price of the crown (probably another $700.00-$1000.00)
20 inch flat screen TV blew last night, just off warranty.
Just waiting for the other shoe to drop...
Hopefully it won't hurt too much when it does!

>>> dryer went ... two TV's went ...
Motors and electronics have a greater tendency "to go" both when the voltage is too low and when the voltage is too high.

Some children, when fitted with braces, are told that their jaws are too small. Pulling teeth (often the pointed ones third from center) to make space should not be done except as a very last resort but if some molars were already lost, see how well the braces can be arranged so no more teeth need to be pulled.
