OT Independence Of The Seas

was wondering if any of your have been on the Independence Of The Seas
we are looking at doing a 10 night cruise this Oct as we are not going over the pond this year

only having done Disney cruises before , was wondering what you think of the ship , I'm afraid I'll be sitting on board and wishing I was on The disney Magic
but the price of the Disney Magic in the Med is out of our budge

Jackie, the only other cruise ships I have been on other than DCL are NCL and, while we enjoyed both experiences with NCL, the fact remains that it's not Disney.

The major thing for me was the pitiful standard of shows and entertainment on NCL. Having said that, both of the cruises we did were only 2 nighters so the standard may be better on the full-length cruises.

We are considering a cruise on Oasis of the Seas for my 40th Birthday and there is a big part of me that, although I have a strong desire to sail ont hat ship, worries that I will miss DCL.

Don't know if any of that helps at all

One of DH's colleagues has cruised on the Independence. He is an old hand at cruising, he's been doing it for more than 20 years, and thoroughly enjoyed his time on it. However, he hasn't cruised with DCL so he can't give any comparisons.

The major thing for me was the pitiful standard of shows and entertainment on NCL.

This is the one thing that puts me off cruising with anyone else. We did a Med cruise when we were first married and, although we had a fabulous time, the entertainment was embarrassingly dreadful. Last year we took a day visit round one of P&O's ships ~ whilst everything we were shown on the ship was lovely and I would be quite happy to cruise with them, I think I would so miss the Disney shows ~ to me they were the best part of our DCL cruise.

We have decided to try it

booked to go on the 10 Night Canary Islands Cruise leaving from Southampton in Oct

it is nearly half the price of the Disney Magic
as long as we go with the attidude its not disney we will be fine
DS11 is delighted 'can't wait to go rock climbing and flow riding

I've done 7 nights on the liberty of the seas back in 2008 which I believe is the sister ship. My brother has been on the independance of the seas twice and loved it.

They are great huge ships but food and entertainment is great! I can recommend the they have an italian and steakhouse restaurants that you can pay a little bit more to eat at which I thought where lovely also.

Sure you will have a great time.

Sadly I havent been on a Disney cruise yet so cant compare the closest I've been to one was seeing the disney ship next to liberty.

The dance academy that my girls go to were asked to perform on the ship, the girls are really excited about it. Last year they danced on the festival stage at Disneyland Paris for the Madi-Gras festival.

We've never been on a cruise before, I'll let you know how we get on.

we're coming across the pond to Cork, just a four night, five day stay.
