OT ~ I'm back to Disney thoughts!

Hi All ~ It's been a long time since I spent time on the DIS.

Emily has been in and out of Sick Kids for tests and result meetings. Looks like a pacemaking is in her future. She is understandibly NOT happy about this. We also began our talk towards a heart transplant.

Evan has been deemed "specific learning disabled" and we are on the road to an IEP. I just hope they don't transfer him to another school. We love this one!

Work is BUSY! I started a second job for Reptilia. I book educational Reptila shows in Halton. I love it!

Gary is good...working hard!

We are finally able to start thinking about Disney and the beach again. We want to bath in anticipation, so we are waiting until April 2009 to return to WDW.

We are considering a trip to Alberta next summer to visit THE DRUM!

Hi Nancy ~ I'm not so much overwhelmed as I'm relieved that others are seeing Evan's needs. Now we can all work together to help Evan learn to learn the way he learns.....heeheehee....can you tell the apple doesn't fall far from the tree here.

Welcome back Sandra. I can totally understand what you mean about how confusion getting an IEP set up is. However once its done it should work out great. My DS has had an IEP set up since he was in grade 4. I just signed and sent back his IEP for this year. He is know in grade 10. It has worked out great. He is able to get the help he needs, even in high school. If I can help in any way with suggestions, please let me know.

So sorry to hear about your darling daughter---hugs and healing thoughts being sent your way. Sandra --talk to my sister---she just two days ago got the results of Cameron's testing --"Learning Dis " also.I do however like to call it the "Learning curve" They are going to be setting up an I.E.P. for him. Remember you are the parent and no they can't move him to a new school unless you agree. You also will be asked for your imput into the I.E.P. --don't sign unless you think it represents what you want for Evan. Thinking of you

Welcome back - sounds like you have lots on your plate!!

We just went for my ds' IEP meeting and things are looking bleak for high school unless things drastically improve. If you have any IEP Q's feel free to ask - my ds' is 13yo and in gr 8 and has had one since gr 1 now!!

Looks like we aren't heading back to Disney till 2009 either!!
