OT- I need your help with a 2yo biter!

My son got his first tooth at 4 months. He would bite me all the time while I was nursing. As he got older, around 10 months, he would bite the couch if I told him "no."

When my daughter was 2 she bit me one time and I bit her back to show her that it hurts. She never bit again. And I'm happy to report that she is now almost 7 and there is no emotional scar as a result. Some children learn through time outs... others learn the hard way. My daughter is one who has to learn the hard way.

My one son was a terrible biter at about that age. I was thinking of quiting the gym it was so bad he was biting all the babies. I could see all the moms were not so happy with me. So I talked to the owner and he said the same thing happened with their kid and he told me to by a clip like you would use to keep a pacifer attatched to his shirt with and put a jelly like teething ring on it. Then encourage him when he felt like biting to chomp down on it. It worked like a charm. No more biting incidents, no more mad moms. What a relief!
