Today at their end-of-the-year assembly he let the kids throw pies in his face! :rotfl:

My DD was chosen as one of sixteen because she got the highest score on a standardized test for a girl in her grade. :woohoo: I just couldn't get over the fact that he let them do that... :bitelip:

What are your kids' schools doing/what did they do for the end of the year?

I teach second grade and we have done something similar for the past couple of years. But, it is open for everyone- anyone who brings $1 can throw a pie in the principal's face. The money raised goes to the school's Relay for Life team to fight cancer. Many kids bring $5 and get to throw 5 pies in his face. It is a riot! He sits outside and wears a rain suit. After it is over, he goes home to take a shower. We have around 700 kids in our school, so it is really a mess for him! Instead of real pies though, they use whip cream donated by a local grocery store. It has really become a tradition at our school!

I think it is awesome that he's willing to give such a fun incentive! :) Kudos to him for being more about the kids than his dignity.

Thats a great way to raise money for a great cause!!

BTW - Do you think if I handed my old HS principal a buck he would let me throw a pie in his face??? :rotfl2:

At a fund raiser at youngest DD's school, the biggest attraction was the one where they got to dunk DD's teacher, the only male teacher in the school. The children had to throw a ball at a target, and if the target was hit at exactly the right spot, with the right amount of force - the teacher fell into the water.

Of course, the teacher forgot that there are kids in the school who play cricket at the junior national level - the kids had a lot of fun putting their skills to the test! It was downright hilarious!

I can't imagine the principal allowing herself to be assaulted with pies! I'd pay an admission fee just to see that!!!

DD's school does somthing like that with a dunking booth.

Dd's principal lets the kids duct tape her to the wall in the cafeteria. They can buy individual pieces of tape, and all of the money goes to activities for the next school year.

I teach 1st grade at a high poverty school. We have a year-end program where every student who had perfect attendance gets a bike, lock and helmet. Perfect means perfect - no tardies, leaving early for an appointment, etc. I had 2 students get bikes this year. Overall the school gave 31 bikes this year. The bikes are all lined up outside and the teachers ride them into the gym where all the kids are sitting. It is so much fun! We have businesses, teachers, family and friends donate $$ to pay for the bikes. Kids who miss 1/2 day or more (up to 5 days) get cool prizes, too!

That's awesome! Good for your school! :thumbsup2

At the beginning of every school year, our principal challenges the kids to a reading contest. They have to read a certain amount of words per year and it is judged by a computer program called Reading Counts. If they make their goal, the judge throws a party and does something crazy. Last year he dressed up as a chicken and did the chicken dance, this year he dressed up as Hannah Montana and sang Best of Both Worlds. He also had the janitor dress up as Robbie Ray and the gym teacher as Cousin Earl. It was a lot of fun and the kids are still laughing about it 2 weeks later! :thumbsup2

Sounds like a great principal!!

He really is, I'm actually pretty bummed that my DD won't be having him again next year.

When she came home from school today my DD was laughing, saying, "Nobody will let me forget that I completely missed! Everyone's so mad, except the principal, he actually thanked me because he had so much whipped cream on his face that he could barely breathe!" :rotfl:

Yesterday my DD's grade hosted a dunk tank. They got a dunk tank and had the local fire department fill it up. Then during lunch the students got to pay $5 to throw 3 balls at the target. It was a riot watching all of the students dunk their teachers into the tank. And the money raised was going to Darfur and its cause. I thought it was a great idea, although i don't know how much money was raised, but i'm sure it was a lot!

My girls' school had their year end carnival last Friday (they go until this Friday) and they had a dunk tank. The kids got to dunk the teacher for a dollar....and if they missed with the ball they could walk over and push the lever. LOL My girls didn't want to though because they didn't know the teacher well.
