I'm a Canadian TA specializing in Disney. Am I allowed to say that on this board? Time will tell. TICO, travel regulator in Ontario, is very strict about what you can and can't do being home based. So check out their regulations. I mean strict as far as the set up and business cards and practices etc. It was long haul to get myself a host company - an agency to work with/for because of TICO regulations and those wanting money upfront.
I'm working for an independent agency. I mean it's a full service privately owned agency.
However, there are now a myriad of agencies that might take you on -home based/Outside Sales Rep/Independent Agent. Some for a huge price. Some a smaller buy in. (But the money does go to training - just be careful) Others I'm unsure. They are:
*Cruise Ship Centers
*TPI
*Sell Off Vacations
*Lately I've heard Flight Centre
I am also working as a Disney Specialist in Toronto for an independent agency. I am also attending Seneca College at night school to obtain a Travel Agent certificate.
There is a lot to learn and I think that going to school as well as working is the best for myself. As Lisa has already mentioned there are a lot of rules and regulations put in place by TICO.
