Dbf and I are going to Ottawa in a few weeks because he has to write an exam there. I need a hotel that's centrally located and very comfortable. It doesn't matter how much it costs, the most important thing is that he gets a good nights sleep before his exam. Any suggestions?

Hi Princess Pooh,

Can you tell me roughly where he will be writing his exam? That would help narrow down the choices. There are a number of good quality downtown hotels I could recommend, but I'm just wondering is you know which street he'll have to get to so that he doesn't have far to go.

Thanks Mousegirl. He doesn't know where the exam will take place yet but it'll probably at the University of Ottawa. Is that near downtown?

I was thinking of the Westin. Is that one nice?

The Westin and Les Suites are very close to the U of O. If you want to splurge, so are the Lord Elgin and the Chateau Laurier. :flower: You can walk from any one of these, probably less than 10 mins (U of O is my old stomping ground) :flower:

Hi again,

Since he's likely writing the exam at the University of Ottawa I would definitely recommend the Westin as my first choice too. I have stayed there a number of times with my husband since his company has held its Christmas parties there.

It is a great hotel, with good restaurants and recreational facilities, and is an easy walk to the University of Ottawa (which is definitely downtown, as you were asking). Another advantage if you like to shop like me (lol), is that there is an inside connection from the hotel to the Rideau Centre which is the main downtown shopping centre. You're also just steps from the Market area which has lots of great shopping and restaurants. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask!

P.S. Princess Pooh, I forgot to mention that the Westin Hotel in Ottawa (as in all other Westins) has what are called "Heavenly Beds" - incredibly comfortable mattresses which would pretty much guarantee a good night's sleep before his exam!

Yay! Not only do I get to shop but I get a heavenly bed too! Thanks so much Ottawa-Newbie and MouseGirl :flower:
