Here's what we need nelp with --

In class they the read the book "Flat Stanley". It's the story of a boy whose bulletin board falls on him and squishes him. He accidently gets mailed away.

The teacher has made an assingment out of it. The students are supposed to ask friends to take Flat Stanly (a paper doll) around where they live and let the student know where he has been. Pictures or post cards are a plus.

So, here is where we need help. Would anyone like to "adopt" Flat Stanley and take him for an adventure?

You can PM me if you're intested or post here. We can work out the details then.

BTW -- this project is for the whole 3rd grade school year.

Thanks in advance!!

My oldest son did this and it's alot of fun. We'd love to have FS visit PA! Just PM'd you.

Thanks Denise! Just PM'ed you back! FS leaves for PA tomorrow.

Just a thought -- if I were squished, do you think I could get to Disney in sooner than 3 years?

Tn-volunteer-LOL

Would he like to visit Texas? It is the home of the Pres, you know! ;) I can take him to Crawford for Thanksgiving or Christmas (in-laws live there). Could get some great pics.

Flat Stanley would be honored to visit both TN & TX! When he gets back from PA I'll send him to TN and from there -- TX for the Thanksgiving holiday.

I really appreciate the help and my DS is so excited. He's checking on the atlas to see where in relation to IN Flat Stanley is going.

PA, TN, TX, might as well head to the great NorthWest. I'll show him some of the sights around here.

Thanks Lori! I got your PM ... I'll get with you in the next few days and we'll get Flat Stanly over your way too. He's becoming quite the traveler!! I appreciate all the offers to be host families for Flat Stanley. My DS does too!!

My DD(6) would think it would be fun to show FS around our town that is on the Oregon Trail!!! Send him on his way. I will PM you with my address.

Belle0101 - Sending you a PM now.

Would FS like to come to Canada for a visit.....let me know and I will PM you

tink2dw -- PM'ed you back & put you on FS travel agenda!

Tantor -- FS is a very willing traveler, he'll go anywhere he's invited, thanks for offering!

When FS gets back I'm thinking he'll be making travel plans for TN next if that's okay with Mal. Sending you a PM Mal.

Thanks everybody -- I really had my reservations about this project but it's turning out to be really fun for our whole family!

The traveling FS gave me an idea for younger DS on our December trip. His teacher is only in his 3rd year teaching and is very young and loves to interact with the kids. The principal said he was the most requested teacher this year. I think on the upcoming field trip I'll try to get a good pic of him and we'll take "him" with us on our roadtrip to FL. Then we'll take pics of "him" on our trip that I'll scan and add captions to when we get home. Then have DS take them to school in January for the teacher.

Sounds like a fun project! Would FS like to visit the Mall of America? LMK I am there every other week :p

Let me know if FS would be interested in a trip to sunny AZ. As a former third grade teacher, I know this kind of activity can be a super learning experience. Bon Voyage Stanley!

Judy

FS would enjoy a trip to AZ!! I'll make sure you get on his list of Host Families. And you're right, it has been a learning experience for us. It's a fun way to learn too!

Thank-you!!

Michelle

I sent you a Pm with my address...Hope FS is on his way soon how long do we get to keep him?

Do you think FS would like to visit the Land of Lincoln? We live in Springfield, IL which is host to the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned, Lincoln's Tomb and the state capital.

Of course, if you would like and it would fit into your schedule, we will be on the Disney Magic - Western departing November 8th (we leave the 6th) and FS could accompany us to WDW, Port Canaveral, Key West, Grand Cayman (we are swimming with Stingrays) and Cozumel, Mexico.

If this would fit into your schedule, just let me know and we would love to take him. We have a 4th grader and 4 year old, so I completely understand school projects.

FS can come stay with us, we're in the NorthEast, if you can have him here 'round Thanksgiving, we can show him the Pilgrims and Mayflower!!!

Interesting story...
My 2 kids did something along this, my oldest DD in kindergarten brought home a stuffed horse, Fritz (from a book) and each night the children took turns and brought him home. Our last name starts with "C" so we got him on the 3rd day. Months later, when Fritz came home again, I was reading his journal. Wouldn't you know it, Fritz was exposed to all sorts of germs!!!! Dogs, colds and to top it off, Whooping Cough!!!! I totally freaked out, and doused the thing with Lysol, put him in a plastic zip-lock bag and sent him back. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why my DD had been sick from the 3 week of school til almost the end of school!!! Now, I knew!!! Fritz's journal read he had a bath!

Well, to make matters worse, 2 years later, my DS had the same kindergarten teacher. On the second day of school, here comes my son happy as can be with Fritz in hand. To my shock, IT WAS THE SAME *^*(*_*) STUFFED HORSE!!!!!! Fritz was badly in need of repair and very thread worn, I lost my mind!!!! Fritz went back into another zip-lock bag, doused with more Lysol and with a note saying Fritz was welcome at our house anytime just as long as he stayed in quarantine!!!!

Can you believe that??? How unsanitary!

B
