I needed to vent somewhere and thought I would here...........my DH is anything BUT dear to me right now:headache: :headache:

My girls play hockey for the town team plus one plays for her Highschool Team. This year they also made the local AA team , but then it folded!

My DD that plays for highschool has decided not to play this year...she is in grade 11 and has a very heavy semester..she is in the academic program and has a Math, Physics, History and Business Law...a very heavy homework schedule...after much soulsearching she decided to not play highschool hockey ( they miss at least a day week of school plus practices at 5;30 in morning!

Enter the Hubby,no longer dear right now!!! First a bit of background...he is very proud of DD's playing and takes great pride (read boasting) about them.....so
1; he is PO'd that the elite team has folded.
2. he isEXTREMELY po'D that DD has quit High School team. Keeps on and on about it.

Last night one of my DD's needed one of the other girls to work for her at McDonalds.... (long story) neither one would work for her ..I was very dissapointed with them and said so ....

my HUBBY:sad1: says to the DD that quit HS hockey..."quitting school hockey was STRIKE ONE...not working for SIS is STRIKE 2...so look out!!!!:confused3

I am in a real funk today and mad at DD's for not helping their SIS and EXTREMELY upset with H.
I am sorry to vent so ..but figured it is better to type out my frustratation rather than fight with hubby..

I feel for you..first, 3 teenagers...i am right along with you...a dd-17, ds-15, and dd-13...i have dh just like yours...all my kids are athletic, and have played on rep (travelling) soccer teams...my oldest dd has decided not to do any sports right now as her semester in grade 12 is hard ( chem 12, ancient civ 12, and eng 12, along with a spare)..dh was ok with this...ds decided he was going to quit hockey this year (gave up soccer for hockey 1 1/2 years ago)...dh kinda freaked out and my ds was gonna play just for him...my ds had good reason for quitting...the main one was he was moving up to a league with 15, 16 and 17 year olds, meaning some have played for 13 years and ds has only 1 year behind him...he was plain nervous, plus he wants a job...dh ranted and raved, saying "he has to join soccer again"...he "needs to get out on the golf course more"...this is dh that played soccer in kindergarten and QUIT...poor ds, all is good now, but it was a long week for him...dh has now focused all attention on youngest dd who plays on an older team..they have an amazing team, have even made it to provincials...i am just hoping dh doesnt drive her crazy...

Anyways, i wanted to let you i get it....last night dd-17 and i had a "battle"...if i hear one more time "you know i am in grade 12 now, right":scared1: ...she seems to think it means she can do what she wants, when she wants...yah right...good luck

Ok ladies, I had to give a hockey dad's point of view. DD played AA rep hockey until she was 16 (rep soccer too). Even though she made the team for the following season, she told the coach she wasn't having fun anymore, and was quitting hockey (she was a goalie), She played for the high school team (as a skater) for one more year, then quit altogether. She's now in her first year of university, not playing any organized sport - except for fun badminton and tennis with her old dad. Was I upset at first, yes, but so was DW. We make our kids our the focus of our lives, and sports teams with the tournaments, practices etc become a big part of what a family does. Your hubbies will get over it in time, tell them that they will now have more time to do work around the house ;)

lol, i know you are right, he really was just diappointed...we both LOVE watching our kids play...and i have to admit i was sad when my son quit soccer, but :cool1: when he quit hockey...hockey scared me...the hits he took made me freak out ...If i could convince him back to soccer, i would try, but he has no interest...i will say that my husband is enjoying not having to be in 3 different towns on weekends, we had a couple of insane years...who goes with with who, and who goes alone...this year is relaxed and easy...

Thanks guys! I feel better knowing I am not alone...my girls play soccer too....

I just wish my husband didn't have to LIVE through our kids so much....I too enjoy watching them play but he is in a whole other universe with it!! I am proud of their accomplishments and he is proud too but also vicariously lives through it...I stopped going to games because he just couldn't avoid telling them on the ride home all the things that they and their teammates did wrong! and what the coach should have done etc.....:headache: I would say good pass, good goal etc. and he would say say yep but this could be better etc...armchair coach!!!!

anywhoo I was going to delete the original post but glad I didn't now......;)

and isn't it really upto your kids to decide what they want to do, and not have it forced upon them...
