OT-help with room ideas

We are hopefully going to be buying a house right after DD turns 5. Basically we are repainting and recarpeting everything. My problem is that I can't decide how to do DD's bedroom. She currently has the Tinkerbell comforter set from Target and is in love with it. Her favorite color is purple though. I can't decide whether to do neutral colors (yellowish, pale blue, etc..) for her room or go girlie and do pink and purple. I am not planning on repainting again anytime soon so I want something she will like for awhile. Her furniture is all going to be white so that's not really an issue. Help?

Candice Olsen from Divine Design (I think that is it anyway) did the cutest little girl room that could grow old with the girl and essentially change color schemes. She took several colors that were complimentary and put vertical stripes up to chair rail level. She had pink, purple, yellow and a few others and they were different widths. She then chose a neutral color for the remainder of the wall (from chair rail level up). That way the child could get older more sophisticated bedding later on and had more colors to choose from. When I re-do my DD room when she is 7 I plan on doing something like that. I found the divine design website once and there were pics of the room but I have lost the link.

If I could re-do DD3's room right now I'd do it in the new Restore & Restyle island stuff at Target!!! It's CUTE!! Actually we are having a baby boy and right now we're working on his room - it's going to be Blue Island Surf from Pottery Barn Kids. But the Target stuff is cute for girls (I think it's called Surfer Girl). I wish the boys was as cute because it's a whole lot cheaper than PBK!
