I'm putting together a scrapbook for DD's kindergarten teacher. :teacher: I sent each child home with supplies/photos to create one page. Now that they're coming back, I realize that I want a copy of the scrapbook too! :)

I thought I'd scan each page and make a photo book. Then I can give the original scrapbook to the teacher, and order a copy for myself and any other parents who want one. The problem is that I can't find any books the right size! :confused3 The kids are using 8.5X11 pages. I can find books that size, but they're all oriented as landscape, and I want portrait. Has anyone made one like this. I've checked Wal-Mart, Sams, and Snapfish.

My other thought would be to just get the pages printed on cardstock at Staples or somewhere and get them bound. Has anyone done this with good results? I'm a little worried it won't look as nice.

Any and all suggestions welcome!

How about putting each page on 12 X 12 cardstock as like a matting? Then you could scan the whole thing and make a 12X12 book.

My only other suggestion is something you probably already thought of but I would make a note to the other parents that you would personally want a book. Some parents may not feel comfortable with you having a copy (since it was something that was for the teacher) without their permission. Personally, I wouldn't care but some people are private about their kids images. Just a thought...

Thanks for the suggestions. The 12X12 pages might be the best option. Getting it copied at Staples/Kinkos is actually a LOT more expensive than making a photobook, but will end up looking cheaper, IMO.

Good point about asking parents first. All the photos are ones I personally took, not ones they sent in. I'm class mom and am in the school a lot, so I've been snapping away all year. All parents signed a photo release at the beginning of year. So I can't imagine they would have a problem with that, but in this day and age, I guess it's best to ask first.
