OT: Help with an HRV system

Hello!

I recently moved in to a fairly new house - it's about 2 years old - and it is equipped with a plate HRV system. This is very new to me, and I'm not sure it's working. Even when it is turned to MAX it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Should I not be hearing something? I've read that plate systems don't have any moving parts in the core, but how silly is it that I'm not sure it's even working? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Hi, not sure if this will be _much_ help, but our HRV is never very audible, even when it's at the highest setting. You could try turning it on in a room with no other ambient sounds (a bathroom might work best), and then listen. It's very faint. Ours sounds a little bit like a running water tap, but _very_ quiet.
Ours also has an instruction manual on it, so you might want to look for yours. Also, it will be time to switch ours from summer mode to winter mode soon. The filters have to be cleaned every few months as well.
If you can't find the manual, maybe search around for a make and model # sticker and plug that into a google search?

As a sidebar, Venmar who is behind many of the brands you see on the market had a safety recall. You might want to check if your model is included... http://www.venmar.ca/CustSuppNsup.aspx You should also be able to get your manual from your manufacturer...

Thank you!! I just cleaned the filters, so I'll put it on for a few weeks and check them out again!

I was so excited to see you were going at almost the same time! For whatever reason, most of the other Canadians are headed a couple days earlier or later We are headed to MVMCP on 12/6 - you?
