OT-help me plan a last minute spring break vacation

Hi everyone. My family and I are considering taking a last minute spring break trip and wondered if you could help us with some ideas. First of it has to be the 1st week of April because that is our spring break from school. Also we live in NJ and are a family of 5, I prefer to drive so it wont be so expensive. Some place warm would be nice too, not sure where that could be.

Lastly, we are a family of 5 and have 3 kids ages 10, 7, and 4...oh and Im pregnant too, will be around 21 weeks at that time. We really would like to getaway before the new baby and that week works best so my boys don't have to miss any school. Cost of course is always a factor too. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Don't know your budget, and how long you want to drive for, and how much is for the kids vs. you, but for a quicker drive you could always go to great wolf lodge here in the Poconos. Great kid fun,good for all ages, pretty easy since the waterpark is indoors and attached to your hotel room. And with a sitter you can always escape for a little more grownup fun to the casino /dinner out etc. Won't be warm here outside, but you can vacation there with never leaving the hotel. I think 2-3 days there does it for me and my water loving kids (11,7,and 3) , but there are plenty of other things here to do close by if you want a longer trip.

I always suggest Hilton Head Island, SC when these questions come up. You can drive, it is pretty affordable and lots to do with gorgeous beaches and lush landscaping.

For super budget, you can stay at the Hilton Head Resort in a small two or three bedroom condo for under $700 a week. As an example, last Feb. we rented one for $250 for the week.

A little more upscale is Palmetto Dunes Resort.

You could rent at either of these places through vrbo.com or homeaway.com.

It is also only u der an hour to Savannah and about two and a half hours to Charleston.


Another idea is Myrtle Beach...more built up and a different vibe.

Williamsburg and VA Beach is nice too.

Have fun whatever you decide!

Our favorite spring break trip was to Gatlinburg TN, we had a great time and it really didn't break the bank!

That's exactly what we're doing! I forgot the name of our condo but it's right on the water. My kids are all excited to sleep in the bunk beds. We're driving down from Buffalo. I've been looking at restaurants and activities online. I can't wait!

If you're wanting someplace warm, you're going to have to go pretty far into Florida to guarantee that. Hilton Head has been down right cold for some of our spring breaks...first week of April. And it snowed in Gatlinburg for us same time one year...rare but it can happen.

We now go to Disney every year for Spring Break. Plenty warm without being hot.

If you're willing to drive that far, you could stay at Bonnet Creek and have plenty to do without even going into the parks. We did this for a couple days before we bought our annual passes and my kids LOVED it! So much to do there....and prices are so reasonable too!
