OT-Great American Dream Vote

I know that this is off topic (which is why I put OT in the subject line ), but I wanted to share this with all of you guys b/c I know we all try and help each other out with RP's. I hope it's ok I posted this here, just wanted to make sure that it gets seen.

As you probably know, I am crazy about Basset Hounds. I worked at a vet for 5 years, was a kennel manager for two. I am also involved in Basset Hound Rescue. So many bassets get turned in or taken to the pound because people get them and think that they are just big couch potatoes (they do eventually turn into couch potatoes, but after a few years, and they still have a nose attached), don't realize just how stubborn they are (supposed to be, bred into them to stay focused on the hunt, even if the hunt is your dinner!).

Anyways,
On ABC tomorrow night a new show is premiering, The Great American Dream Vote. One of the contestants is involved in Basset Rescue and her dream is to have a Basset Senior Center. I am asking all of you to watch and please vote for her, this is a really big deal for Basset Hound Rescue awareness. I would really appreciate your votes, and I'll send some Basset Hound Kisses your way if you vote!

How cool!! I have a basset hound named Daisy. As we speak, she is standing here barking her head off for no other reason than the fact that she is spoiled. I think she is about 12 now and grows more and more stubborn every year. But she really has been a good dog with my kids. She was our first "baby"!

They aren't for everyone, but I love them! Nothing can brighten your bad day like looking over at a basset hound...it can't be all that bad--what if I looked like that all the time?

I have two Basset currently. I keep wanting to say three. I recently had to put one down, Dufus (he came with the name). The one in my sig pic is Snufflufflagus. I also have LadyBug. Then on top of the bassets, I also have a golden retriever and a malamute mix.

Those bassets were so cute. I hope she wins. I think more people will be more empathetic towards the bassets than chickens.

Daisy has had to wear glasses too? Snuffy thought he was the only one! He has sunglasses.

The bald guy won!

I can't believe it. I missed it when they announced the winnder b/c they were showing a local high rise fire on the news.

I'm not sure if the show will last. The two ladies whose dream was to get their kids out of the house were lame. The bathing suit designer and her use of the word freakin' was driving me crazy. The only thing that might save the show is Donny.

I'm off to vote for Lori- another vote for the doggies.

The rest were horrible. I'd never normally watch the show. Luckily, I've got TiVO (which I highly recommend!), so I was able to fast forward through them!

I still can't believe that guy won. It's sickening, it really is.

and look at the blog. Oh, FYI, the show has been cancelled. There was such an outcry after the respectable cause of basset rescue lost to a bald guy, ABC cancelled the show!

Not exactly true: overall, the show came in 5th out of 5 rateable shows in its timeslot. The ratings weren't there for the channel to justify the expenses (although I don't think the bald guy should've won either)
