My 11 year old DNiece wants a magazine subscription to a fun, preteen magazine. I have no idea what to get her. :confused3

Any suggestions?

My son loves animals, and subscribes to zoobooks. Each month they highlight a different animal.

My dd is 11 and enjoys the American Girl magazine as well as Discovery Girls and has a sub to both. I like the Discovery Girls one a little better but she likes them both. They focus on all aspects of the preteen life and have lots of fun games and activities for kids this age.

We avoid the tiger beat type fan mags except on a rare occasion and even then they may get read once. While the others get read over - she is now going through some of her older sisters older AG and DG magazines from a couple years ago.

Focus on the Family has a great one for girls ages 12-14 called "Brio". DD13 wil be getting her subscription soon. Just a lot of uplifting stories, not all "star" related, plus fashion and stuff that all teens seem to need to know about!

American Girl Magazine! My 14 yo DD kept all of hers and now my 9 yo DDs are just now starting to read them. I just got them a subscription for their bday (they will share) I also got 2 11 yo girls that I watch after school the AG mag for Christmas presents this year. I bought the Dec. issue and will give it to them next week. The rep told me their issues will begin with the Jan/Feb issue. Since they are not sisters I did by them their own sub. each. :rotfl:

I highly recommend Cricket Magazine.

I recommend magazines from this line, too. While my DD is only 7 and doesn't get Cricket, she does get magazines for the younger set. Spider - a literature magazine, Ask- science magazine, and Appleseeds - social studies.

If you check the web site, there are 6 books for the 9-14 set, including Cricket. Maybe there is one that will add to an interest of hers.

Good luck!

I vote for American Girl. DD will be 14 in February, and she still thinks its the best magazine for girls. :goodvibes Oh, and she also likes National Geographic for Kids.

My DD11 (in 5 days) loves her Amrican Girl magazine subscription. This year we are getting her a subscription for Discovery Girl also.

She also likes Nickelodeon Magazine and Disney Adventurer.

You can browse through AG magazine on the web site if you want to see what it' like, Discovery too I think.

American Girl is a good one--my dd (soon to be 11) enjoys her subscription!

I'll second this...my oldest is 15, and still enjoys it. Her grandma gave her a subscription years ago, and I still renew it. She now shares with her 10yo sister, but only after she has read it first!
