I just had to share. At the end of this month my DH and I are going to Ambergize Caye, Belize.:yay: This is so out of our Disney Comfort Zone. It took us days to finally book.

Has anyone gone? Any helpful advice?

I have never been there but National Geographic Traveler and Adventure have done articles on Belize and it seems like a cool place to go. Along with Costa Rica it is one of the only places in Central America I would like to visit.

You might want to do some searching at their sites, which I linked to above, to find the articles.

Have fun.

We spent only a day there on a cruise ship excursion. It was very beautiful but the thing that stood out to me was how incredibly friendly all the people there were! :thumbsup2

Our scuba diving club visited Belize a few years ago to dive the Blue Hole. The ocean is extremely clear and the coral is beautiful. Plenty of tropical fish to see. I would definitely recommend snorkeling or scuba diving while you are there. We also spent 3 days in the jungle at Jaguars Paw Resort. Fun place to visit! We tubed down the river with part of the river running through caves. Quite the experience. Belize City was not much to speak of. We went to a casino and a local restaurant. I would not plan a lot of time in the city. We also visited the zoo. It was OK. Nice afternoon stroll.

The other adventure we took was traveling by boat up river to the Jaguar Ruins in the jungle. Unbelievable sight! This was an all day trip, but well worth it. The ruins are in great shape and our guide was very knowledgeable on the local lore.

Have a great time and remember your bug spray.

Thanks for the great tips. We are definitely planning to go snorkeling and having a day in the jungle. Not sure if we are going to do the cave tubing and zip lining or do the ancient ruins.
