OT: Gifts ideas for parents moving

Hi everyone, I need some help with some gift ideas for my parents who are moving in a month. They are leaving my childhood home, after 33 years, and moving into a new bungalow in a water front seniors complex. They are in heaven. The house is new and it is wonderful opportunity for them. They will be about a 2 hour drive away from me now.

I would like to have a gift basket made up for them to take on their first day in the new home. Any suggestions on what I could put in it?

If they are like my parents, a gift basket would make them mad when they are downsizing. What about some gift cards to some local resturants so they don't have to cook meals while they are moving.

That's what I was going to suggest also. Get them some gift cards for Restaurants/Stores in their new town.

I tend to agree with the other posters. Maybe you could compromise and make a gift basket that has gift cards and throw in an Entertainment Book for their new area? I'm sure they have all they need for a new house, especially if they are downsizing. This is something that would really help them get familiar with the area (if they aren't already) and give them some good times out on the town. Moving is tiring-I know when we have done it, even with movers, that the last thing you want to do right away is to be cooking meals when your not even unpacked.
