Hi tech savvy people. I need help desperately as I've been crying all afternoon.
About 1.5 years ago dh & I bought an external hard drive to store & organize all photos & music. We were going to use it as a back-up, and thought we were really smart & in the latest millenium.
However, after my 3rd baby was born exhaustion set in & we we forgot about it being a back-up & started uploading all photos directly to it. So I've lost 21 months of photos. All of my 3rd's photos. And our last trip to Disney, except for the few photos I uploaded & put in my TR!
Which brings us to 2 weeks ago when it was dropped. We gave it to a tech savyy friend who tried to recover our data & just called us & said, "It can't be recovered, do you want to send it to a safe room service?"
After crying & calling all my friends to see how many photos they have (not many) I realize that I would like to send it in. Here are my questions:
What is the best place to send it?
I don't want to pay if they don't recover anything, is this standard?
Have you done this & what is your success rate? Anyone get a completely unrecoverable data report?
How much am I looking at? My friend said $300 but it looked like anywhere from $249-$2000
on-line. $249-300 I could spend. $2000.00 I'm afraid I would just have to mourn the loss of my baby's first year.
