I just sold my first item on ebay :earsgirl: , and let me tell you I was nervous..took out books at the library and asked tons of questions and read and reread the info provided by ebay. But I have already run into a problem :confused3 and it is my first sale!!

I just sold an item and it was stated on my auction that I ship only to Canada and the person who won, misread and lives in the US. I can't ship this item to the US (its food stuff). So do I have to relist or can I go to the person who would have won if he didn't and email them and see if they want it? I don't want to do anything unethical and not sure what the rules are. I don't want to pay ebay fees to relist (will I be charged again??!). I was really hoping this sale would have been straight forward.

I hope I have better luck with my other auctions. Thanks for any help you guys can provide. :teeth:

If the person misread your post and is in the wrong, then you can cancel their winning bid and offer a "second chance" to the second highest bidder.

Thank you wee-haggis :goodvibes . I figured out how to do this. I am going to do the "second chance offer". I am sure I will have other questions in the future. Good to know there are people here on the DIS that are so experienced and helpful. :Pinkbounc

Congrats on your Ebay adventure. I started selling on Ebay and I love it. I have e-met so many great people from all over the world. I sell esoteric items ~ divination readings [tarot cards and other readings], Feng Shui, crystals, books ~ that sort of thing. For fun, please consider seeing my website www.freewebs.com/healingarts/ Blessings ~ Sandra

Thanks SandraC. I love your webpage :Pinkbounc . It is very inviting. I will definately check out your auctions on ebay. Thanks for sharing. :sunny:

Make sure you get your final sale fees back from the first non-sale though. If you just second chance the second highest bidder, you'll get charged for two sales instead of only 1.
