OT: Ebay buyer has yet to pay me!!!

Hi budget board friends! Okay, so DH and I decided in January that I would be a stay at home mom for awhile. Although I love being home with DD, I felt like I wasn't helping financially so I decided to sell some stuff on ebay. I sold my first item and was paid right away So, I thought I'd try to sell a few more things to make some more 'extra' money for our family. Well, I sold the second item on Monday, or so I thought. On my listing I said that the payment was to be made 24 hours after purchase. So Tuesday came and went and no payment was made. I contacted the buyer and she responded on Wednesday and said she was very ill and would pay me on Thursday. I said ok. Thursday and today came and went, still no payment. What should I do now? I sent a second email to her tonight to see what was going on but where do I go from here? Can ebay do anything for me or am I s.o.l.??? Obviously I haven't sold a lot before so I'm not really sure how it all works but I'd like to have that money as we're hoping to go to Disney in November and this would help out a little, ya know?! I was able to sell a few more things between my first item and today and have been paid for everything expect from this one buyer. Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA!!!!

Don't buyers technically (according to ebay rules, not your payment guidelines) have 7 days to pay? If she still hasn't paid, I think you can file a non-paying bidder against her, and that will help you get your listign fees back or something to that effect. I don't sell on Ebay, but this is my general understanding of the payment process. Good luck! I'd give her a week before I did anything....there's a lot of gunky stuff floating around, give her the benefit of the doubt.

After 7 days you can report her. If they don't pay within another 7 days you get your fees back and can relist.

I think they changed the rules, it now drops into NPB after 4 days and you can file NPB after eight. I have noticed that a lot of people are paying slower and slower.

I thought they had 5 days as well. I have sold quite a bit on Ebay and 95% pay immediately and 3% in 5 or less days and 2% never pay. I have been selling for 10 years and I have to say in the last two years I have had more non-paying bidders than ever! One was for a child's coat (older child size 16) and it sold for $49.00 buy it now, I filed and the "buyer" emailed and said she didn't bid on it, her child must have! Another "buyer" said her friend used her account and decided against the item!

hoping you didn't mail the item out yet! If you didn't mail the item, it's totally not a big deal at all! NEVER NEVER mail the item out until you receive payment.

I thought they had 5 days as well.

New rules say 4 days:

"If you don't receive payment, you can open an unpaid item case in the Resolution Center as early as 4 days after and up until 32 days after the listing ended.

The buyer has up to 4 days to send a payment after the case is opened. During this time the buyer can also contact you to request a payment extension or make another arrangement. Of course you can agree to the buyer's request, but you're not obligated to make special arrangements."

I just bought some items on eBay today and I went to pay for them immedately (I mean within a minute of winning). I needed to add a new cc to my paypal account and was not able to due to the fact that I had not verified my account. I am in the process of verifying may account using my bank account. This is going to take 2-3 business days and there is a holiday on Monday. I sent a message to the people I bought from explaining this, but I am worried it will effect my rating, which is 100% positive.

Have any one else had issues with this.

Thanks everyone. Still no luck with the payment as of today. DH told me to give her a full 7 days and then contact ebay so I guess that's the plan as of now. Also, I still have the item so again no big deal but was really hoping to get rid of it! Oh well, that's what relisting is all about I guess

That's actually fairly common. No worries, just email the sellers and let them know what's happening. The deposit pp needs so you can discover & input that mystery number to verfiy it has usually shown up in my bank account's online history the next business day. I'm guessing here but think you should probably have it Tuesday, definitely by Wednesday.

Worst case scenerio would be an Unpaid Item alert... Sellers can't file UIA until day 4 then you still have at least another 4 days to pay. Assuming you just won this weekend, you shouldn't have a problem.

Considering the crazy weather happening across the nation, you might want to give them an extra day or so, as they may be in a power outage.

We got dumped with a foot of snow (DFW, TX) on Thursday and people started losing power Thursday night. Now that the snow and ice is melting, even MORE people are without power because the trees that were weighted down are snapping back up and into power lines! I'm sure that similar things are happening all over.

I honestly don't think she would have replied the first time if she didn't intend to pay. Just hang in a day or so longer...

First and foremost, what kind of feedback does your buyer have? Any? If so, I think I'd be patient, as you have been. Hope it works out!

By now, every buyer's feedback should be 100% as sellers can't leave negs for buyers any more - even those who don't pay, take the item and file a chargeback, or are downright PITAs. It sad, but unless the FB number of a bidder is in the thousands it means nothing to me anymore. In the new & improved ebay marketplace every buyer is now a good buyer - even the really bad ones...

Hence my not selling on eBay for the past couple/few years. I only sold occassionally, but it simply wasn't worth the hassle any more. Things weren't bringing huge prices, and the costs - including postage - were escalating so fast I just found it wasn't worth the stress and time. Still, if they have high FB, and they've contacted you once, I say give them a chance. What is the time limit for filing NPB? If you can go out to 2 weeks or 30 days, why not give the bidder a chance to come through?

Just a quick fyi, I was really sick a while back, then DD10 was sick, then DD13, then I was getting sick again, then DD10 again.....all in a week to 10 day period. LOL I had won an auction and then totally forgot about it. I contacted my seller after 7 days and let her know what happened, she was very understanding and let me pay then. So just remember that your buyer might be having a situation or issue that causes them to not be able to pay right away. I'd give them a few more days, especially with this weather, then just relist the item.

This is true and it is in a lot of different areas of the country. Where my sister lives there are still 24,000 people without power. Can't contact you if you have no electricity for your computer. Also can't snail mail you anything if your address is in cyber space on her computer. I would be very patient with the buyer in this particular case with the weather. They said today that every state in the continental United States has snow toady!!! the only state without-of course Hawaii. These are unusual weather circumstances.
