I was wondering if anyone has a digital water camera? If so, could you tell me about it? We've gone through about 10 in the last year, with only about a quarter of the pics being worthy of being developed, and, frankly, I'm sick of buying them.

I am content to go with the Fuji, as I'm not replacing my regular camera, but DH wants something rugged if the boys are going to be using it.

Any ideas?:confused3

This thread has lots of info.

I decided to by a case for my old digital camera. I have a Sony and I purchased the sports case. It is good until 10ft underwater. It has been really fun to use on vacations.

The biggest thing to be aware of is that the videos don't have much sound at all. But you can take video underwater which is really cool.

I used a Dipac (I may be misspelling this) for my regular digital cammera. It was only 20 bucks and works great. The pictures turned out great too. We used it on our last Disney cruise.

I bought a case for my Canon pocket camera and love it. Well worth the 50 bucks or so and extended the life of my camera. It is now my "water" camera only.

I have the Olymus Stylus 850 SW. 8.0 megapixels. It is waterproof and shockproof. I have used it in the ocean and pool for 2 years now and I love it. The photo quality is great and you can shoot videos as well. We have taken well over 1000 pics with it and have loved it every time. Hope that might help you.

I have the digital Olympus 770SW and like it alot. Waterproof down to 33 feet and shockproof. I'm hard on cameras and it's a very rugged camera.

I just bought DH a Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5 inch LCD for his birthday. We took it for a test run to Hershey Park this past weekend and it took BEAUTIFUL underwater AND action shots. The action shots were a big surprise to me! I wasn't expecting to be able to get ride pictures from a point and shoot camera that can also do underwater pics. The camera is waterproof by itself - no need for a case. Here is the amazon review:

Hmm, apparantly my post disappeared.

Thank you for such great information! The thread on the cruise board was incredible, albeit overwhelming :upsidedow

I'm leaning towards the Fuji, as my original intent is just something to be able to stop wasting $$ on the disposables. After looking at the Canon, and the pics it produces, however, I may be swayed.

You were at Hershey this weekend???

So was I!

And I was also taking pics - a few - with my Canon D10. I was just there for a few hours on Sunday. But what are the chances?

I have this same camera as well, I bought it just before our first Disney Cruise in 07. I must say though, as a pro photographer, this camera (in my opinion) is pretty lacking when it comes to image quality and I really wanted to like it too:sad1:

Maybe the next generation waterproof cameras that should be announced in the next month or two will have worth while improvement.
