OT-Did this happen to anyone else?

Oh last detail. I went to the Dr. Saturday (reg. appointment). It was the first time they told me I had changed: they said I am 1 cm dialated, 70% effaced (sp?) and the head was at -2.

Looks like your little one is getting ready! I bet you can't wait to hold that baby. I know I couldn't wait to hold DS :cloud9:

I think you're about to become a MOMMA!!! Congratulations!!!

I started having contractions with my DS(child #2) at 37 weeks. The contractions were coming hard every 5 minutes for 36 hours straight but no dilation:headache: .

I went to the hospital and because I had had my DD by c-section, they went ahead and did a c-section and I gave birth to a healthy 8lb 12oz DS.

Good luck! I wish you a smooth delivery and a very healthly child!!

Just wanted to say good luck, it sounds like you are taking great care of yourself and you will be having a beautiful, healthy baby soon.

Just thought I'd post with an update-today is my due date and no baby yet... I know they come late (especially first babies) but with all the excitement early on I thought she would be here. I have an appointment on Thursday so I will post news then...(unless she makes her apperance before then...I can only hope!-In our area we are pushing 100 degrees with very high humidity)

Aww hang in there Momma!!!!!! Im sure you wont even make it to your next appointment!!!!! Big Hugs and good luck...hope you have a fast and easy labor and delivery!!!!

I am right with ya sister! I am at 36 weeks and have been having the BH contractions for weeks. It is hot, hot, hot here too. I just keep thinking that I am not going to make it to 40 wks (probably wishful thinking;.) Every morning I wake up and say...just one more day. This is # 3 for me but, other 2 were inductions so I still have yet to go into labor on my own.

Good luck to you- it's gotta be soon now!

I just thought I'd post an update (I meant to before now, but everything has been hectic!)

When I got to a week overdue, they decided to induce me because my blood pressure, and the first round of pitocin still did the same thing the 'false' labor did (it got intense and then died away). The second round got her to drop, they broke my water and then labor progressed pretty quickly. With everything progressing so slowly, they expected me to labor another 20 hours or so after they broke my water, so I opted for an epidural. I hadn't been sure I wanted one (I wanted a more natural labor, and it went so differently than I had wanted.) However, the epidural seemed to work very well and allowed my body to relax and I slept which they said might have been what made everything go so quickly after the epidural.

Anyway: the best part, after almost 31 hours at the hospital I was able to deliver a beautiful 9 lb 4 oz baby girl. With everything that happened, I'm glad I was induced because if she was much bigger I think I would have needed a c-section or foreseps or something.

Thank you for all the support.

Congrats!

Also, in this era of OB rules, you are sooooooo lucky. 31 hours is barely allowed anymore, and too many women are being told that even 7 lbs is too big. Thank your body countless times for going along with the medpros. I wish my own body had complied (and that I knew the following ahead of time). Your bod gave you a priceless gift, and unless you experience the "other" way you'll never know just what a gift it was (like kids never know their parents' full love until they have kids).

And fwiw, my MIL's first was over 10 lbs. MIL is 5"1 and grew up in occupied Korea with horrible malnutrition. Took 6 days of labor, unattended by professionals (tiny rural village), but that 10 pounder came out eventually. (and then her second baby, my DH, was a 44 week baby but a faster labor, lol)

Congrats on the nice big baby!!!!

Oh, by the way, in my time of reading birth stories, and my experience, I've noticed the heavy contractions ahead of time going along with a baby who prefers to stay inside, over and over. I think it's pretty common.
