I don't know too much you can do, just lots of rest and fluids... When I was sick (and I still do this) my mom always gave me saltines and warm sprite or 7up- something about it calms the stomach.

Just make sure she's staying hydrated. Popsicles, water, koolaid, whatever she'll drink. And nothing heavy/spicy to eat.

She'll get better!! :goodvibes

It sounds like your DD might have Gastroenteritis, inflammation of the stomach or intestine, which is commonly caused by a virus, or sometimes bacteria.

Give her plenty of water to drink, ( if she won't drink plain water try some other non-sweetened drinks, not milk) to replace the lost fluid, so that she doesn't become dehydrated. Give her a light diet of bland foods, such as, soup, rice, bread, and pasta.

I hope that your DD starts feeling better soon! :goodvibes

Pedialyte is a good idea in these cases - helps replenish fluids and electrolyes. How much you give her is based on her weight (has a chart on the side of the bottle)

How is her dad feeling...did he get this too? If it is going on this long, perhaps it isn't the stomach flu, but maybe gastroenterisits as catherine suggested. It might also be acid reflux... don't mean to pry, but is your daughter under a lot of stress? Our niece, almost 2, vomits practically every day...stressful home situation and DW and I are convinced it is her way of garnering attention and also a response to the stress she sees and feels.

Hopefully she'll get over this quickly, whatever it is.

My DS3 just had this for 7 days. 2 of those days he was fine. He ran a fever the first 2 days. We thought this would never end.

I hope she's feeling better soon.

Usually the standard stomach bug is pretty limited. Diarrhea goes 4-5 days, but the vomiting portion usually stops fairly quickly, within 24hrs. Since it's gone on so long, it's probably time to see the ped. Don't give any meds unless the ped okays it-don't wanna stop things up with a live virus inside

Don't really have any ideas. mickeyloverx2, but just wishing her the best, hope she feels better real soon.

And know that nothing is off topic on this board, it's really open to most anything. And welcome to the DIS too, good to have you here with a place to share and ask. Again, hope your DD feels good today.

I am also getting over this. I got sick Saturday afternoon after being exposed to this bug by my son.

Now, 4 days later, the only food I've had is bananas, rice and applesauce. I'm on the BRAT diet and even toast is bothering me.

While the vomiting and diarrhea is going on, you should stick to clear liquids for at least 24 hours. A person can live without food for quite a while but the loss of fluids is very dangerous, especially in young children. If the stomach stays quiet for a day or so, introduce the bananas and applesauce first, then the rice and then the toast. That's toast without butter but jelly is OK. You can also use Ensure. It's lactose free. After another 24 hours of holding that stuff down, baked or boiled chicken would be ok as would veggies like carrots.

6 small meals, not 3 big ones are best. Avoid all dairy products until she's 100% better. Do a search on the BRAT diet and gastroenteritis for more info.

If this doesn't work or she's getting worse, a trip to the doctor is certainly in order. This is the sickest I've been in years. Two days with a 101+ temp really wipes you out. It going through this area like wild fire. :(

Best wishes to your daughter!

Ditto what Virgo10 said.

Double Ditto what Dan said.

Hope she feels better, soon!

I think the best thing you can do is call the Dr. which I see you are doing this morning.

Children can become dehydrated a lot faster than adults.

I hope she feels better soon. :grouphug:

Ava is just getting over this-started Sat night. From 2 to 5:30 the little one was losing her dinner, over and over again.

I am one of the few Mom's that cannot do pedilyte, it makes her sicker...we stick to flat 7-UP, but once when she was 2 (and sick) she threw the bottle of 7-up back to my DH and looked at him and said "I said I want water" I think it was her first complete sentence, how is that going to look in the baby book?

But hugs and feeling better vibes to your little one, and getting through it ones for you!

Thank you all so much! She is doing better today but Im still waiting for it to come again..I did call her Dr she said the same thing as most of you last about 5/7 days so if shes still sick friday I can bring her in. She is drinking so hopefully this will pass soon. I just hope my dd1 doesnt get it. I cant believe shes not sick she catches everything. And we are leaving here friday night I hope we dont all get sick in DW. That would be awful!! (but pretty much my luck) Her dad isnt sick that I know of we are divorced so we dont talk much anymore. Ok well I am off to try and finish packing ..thanks again!

Glad to hear she is doing better, don't be surprised though if she gets sick again. There were a couple of stomach bugs going around our area at the same time and DS had one of them. He'd go almost a whole day and then get sick again. Finally after about 3 days went to peds office and he said there was one they were seeing make the rounds that lasted a week to 10 days, said the kids would go 24 hours without getting sick and then start all over. He said not to be surprised if he had been vomit free for 24 hours, send him to school and then get a call to come pick him up because he had gotten sick. He said just make sure he was staying hydrated and let them know of any symptoms of dehydration.

Hope your DD is over this! :grouphug:

Glad she is feeling somewhat better---there are so many unusual viruses going around this year!
Just a quick comment as you had said you are divorced---could it be at all possible that this bothers her? When I went through my divorce my oldest DS who was almost 6 at the time had stomach upset because of the situation we were going through---not all the time but usually coincided with anything to do with his dad---hopefully it is stomach virus and not stress as it was hard on my kids
